| In both RPG and DDM I tend to roll high. And I get an inordinate number of 20's when it really counts (i.e. save-or-die situations and critical hits when an opponent and I are both on our last legs).
But, when it comes to opening boosters, I am the worst. Back when Harbinger first came out, I think two cases worth of boosters netted me no Displacer Beasts.
My first booster of Dragoneye was the mighty LRD - opened by a guy working the counter of my favourite FLGS. Then it was all downhill after that - I opened the rest.
Archfiends - Hill Giant. Then the rest crap. Two cases, and not one Drizzt or one LSD, the two minis I wanted most.
We'll skip GoL for now.
Suffice it to say that Aberrations and Deathknell didn't go very well for me either.
Now back to GoL. The huge boosters were a bit pricey for me so my GoL collection came mostly from trades. But here's what happened with four boosters in chronological order:
1) Storm Giant (I bought and opened) 2) Huge Red Dragon (won at tournament, friend opened for me) 3) Fomorian (I bought and opened) 4) Huge Red Dragon (won at tournament, friend opened for me)
Two cases of Underdark. I've learned my lesson - I'm not very lucky when opening boosters. So I ask the wife to open half of the boosters for me. Guess what? No Balors for me, two for her.
I played in a tournament last Saturday, and basically won a booster of Underdark. I'm only missing 3 pieces for the set - Medium Silver, Draegloth, and Hunched Giant. I ask my friend to open it for me - Hunched Giant. The store owner decides to open another booster for fun - Medium Silver (so I trade her something for it). I'm sure if I had opened these boosters, if would have been a Dromite and a Slayer.
I don't think I'm fooling myself. Based on the above events, my hands stink. But, when I ask other people to open boosters for me, wow!
Me: Hill Giant, Storm Giant, the rest crap from many cases
Others: LRD, 2 HRD's, 2 Balors, 2 minis I needed
Remember that the others have opened far fewer boosters. Weird. Just weird. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades.

| Hey at least you don't collect SWM minatures. The huge R and VR system are waaaayyy messed up. Heck the regular VR system throws a monkey wrench into collecting playing*.

| I'll open them for ya! 1 case of Archfiends = Drizzt, LSD, Gauth, Hill Giant, 2x Champ of Elistrae, Red Wizard, and more. Since that case was the only batch of boosters I've opened I'd say I have a pretty good track record.
On the flipside I managed to run a Beholder band and never roll higher than 4 for the beholder (activating twice a round, approximately 12 round game). | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. | I despise random boosters. I've had reasonable luck on occasion but other times have really blown. This is part of the reason I do a lot of secondary market purchases. That way I get what I want and not what I couldn't care less for.

| I had two good shots of good luck opening boosters last year.
One was back in April or so. My FLGS cleaned up the back room and found 2 Dragoneye packs hiding under whatever.
Pack #1: Bright Naga (I was feeling like TheNameless did) Pack #2: LRD! (I felt MUCH better after that. Anyone wondering, that was LRD #7 [:D] I thought it was GREAT luck!.)
Then, along comes Underdark. I buy my usual three boosters.
Pack #1 I forget Pack #2 Half-Fiend Ogre (Yay) Pack #3 Balor! Sucker dropped straight out the package! I was damn happy. [}:)] | | Trade & talk in real time on IRC! SERVER: irc.psionics.net CHANNEL: #maxminis SOFTWARE: PC | PC (free) | MAC

| Im in the same boat as you nameless.
Harbinger: only bought boosters, but probably bought about 2-3 cases worth Never once got: -Umberhulk -Displacer Beast -Large Earth Elemental -Mindflayer -Human blackguard -Ogre But I sure as hell pulled about 5 medusas and 5 mummies ---two Friends buy about half the ammount between them and between them each get 1 of the above (GRRRRR)
Dragoneye: Best luck of any set, still bought about 2 and got one LRD, LBD; yet no -Dire Ape -Brass Dragon
Archfiends: Nice and unhappy here. About a case worth of boosters and no -LSD -Drizzt -Bone Devil -Clay Golem -Hill giant ----Again (same two)friends buy about half the ammount and get one of each above..
GoL: I became the only one to buy regularly, bought about a case of boosters not ONE Huge Rare. Friend buys 3 boosters nets a Huge Gold and a Behir. (I was NOT a happy camper)
Abberrations: Meh the only thing I wanted real bad was the MFT and got him in my first booster
Deathknell: My first case ever yay! I HAVE to get something good buying this way right? Wrong! 1 case and no -LBD -Beholder -Zombie White Dragon -Aspect of Nerull ---(same two) friends each buy one booster...one gets the LBD the other gtes the Beholder.......
Angelfire: Another one caser and of course no -Mounted Paladin -Stone Giant -Hezrou -Ogre Mage ---My girlfriend at the time opened the first booster and it was a Large copper, One of the previously mentioned friends buys two boosters and gets the Mounted Paladin.
Underdark: Took me two cases to finally get one Balor, and still no Medium Silver Dragon.
Now that I look at it, I think your luck may still be alittle better than mine. | | Champion of the Alhoon and my called shot for Unhallowed Blood War Called Shot: Phoenix Trade withe me!

| | You and I are the same. My cases don't completely suck though I still need Balor, MDP, AoK, and Arty. But anywhoo I have had the wife open halve since RS(SWM and the first time I started buying cases). She pulled three of the four VR's and it's been all good since then. She doesn't get into opening DDM as much since she knows nothing about them. She does say however she enjoys seeing how my face lights up when she pulls something good. Oh and the rolling part. My buddy will atest to that. | I find that dice luck is a fickle lady indeed. That's just part of the game, and Kiddoc...or last year's champ wrote a post/article that made a lot of sense to me stating that you shouldn't blame your dice...look at your band and think about what you could add or subtract to possibly reduce the # of dice rolls, it was very eloquent.
As far as pulls, I've had ups and downs...but I must admit my wife does seem to have all the luck. It makes me think of the Matrix when Neo breaks the Oracle's vase and she says, "the thing that's really going to bake your noodle later is, 'would you have broken it if I hadn't said anything?'" I know that figures in a booster are going to be the same whether my wife or I open it...but the superstitious athlete in me can't help it.

| As far as rotten luck with boosters go mine occours with common. I have bought 12 boosters of aberrations and have failed to get a single man at arm or emerald claw solider. On the pluss side i have swarms of goblins, orc and kobolds. 11 boosters of deathknell and only 1 ibixian. On the plus side 7 boosters of Angelfie and not a single wrackspawn. Yay | | | |

| I seem to have fair luck in getting 1 of the good mini's. But my bad luck seems to show up when it come time for doubles. It is VERY rare for me to get doubles of the figures that matter most. I buy enough boosters that I'm going to get 14-20 doubles at least. Yes inevitably those doubles end up being Skullsplitter, Human Cleric of Banes, etc.
Double LRD? Double Beholder? Not a chance...

| | Our group has decided that Underdark hates us. Out of two cases we didn't draw a balor, mounted drow patrol, Iron golem, Aspect of Kord, Elminster, or Rikka. Later boosters yielded everything but the mounted drow patrol. But, still, mention of that set, in booster form, elicits groans all around. | | **Note: Unless otherwise stated all my minis are unbagged** My reference thread is at: http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12765 Graduate school is swollowing my soul!!!! | I have been pretty lucky with my boosters, I have gotten 5 Balors, 3 Beholders, 2 LSD, 2 Drizzit, and even a couple of Umber Hulks. I've only gotten about 25 or so Archfiends boosters.

| | I almost gave up on D&D minis when Archfiends was released. The three boosters I bought all had LSD. I realy don't concider the LSD a good mini if you are not doing scirmish and getting three was pointless to me. | | | |

| I seem to have great pulls every other set. I got 3 beholders in 2 cases of Deathknell, and 3 balors in Underdark, for example.
It's Aberrations, and Angelfire that hate me (3 skullsplitters, 3 undead hookers). | | Champion of the Entire Monster Manual 1! (Click link to see current progress!) Uncommon Painting Competition 2 Winner

| I'm bad at both too, but My kids can open great every time. Youngest got two Balors in about 8 packs. Got a Beholder in about as many too. I once rolled SEVEN natural 1's in a tournament game after losing on a natural 1 the game before (My fifth of that game.)
I did play the next round though and the odds seemed to be coming around (Three crits and only one 1 vs. his no crits and three 1's).

| I think my signature says it all when it comes to my rolls but I can't complain about my pulls. One case of Archfiends - 3 LSD, 2 Drizzt, 2 Bone Devils, 2 CoE just no Orc Champ - got him a loose booster. Pulls for the last two prereleases I would say were mixed, One great (Mounted Paladin - Marut), one it doesn't work with the other (Red Slaad, Hunched Giant).

| You know joe, I've had same issues. My wife and I open the boxes when we get cases....she pulled 4 LSD's from archfiends in 2 cases +1 box, me it was clerics of bane (3) and vampires (3). Harbinger and dragoneye was just as bad.
Since the "seeding" of cases in the last few sets, it hasn't been near as bad, but she always seems to open the better ones than I do.
I think for wardrums, she is going to open all of the boxes. Maybe not, we'll see...
