I for one don't think the skrimish game really drives the prices of the figures. It's the RPG'ers and collectors for sure. I mean look how many over priced figures there are from the older sets which never get used in skirmish.. I think Balor has a very good chance to become as high priced as Drizzit. He's "useable" in skirimsh and is very popular in RPG, Looks, etc. He's brand new and already goes for well over 20 bucks.

meuh? We've got confirmation of 12 huges in the set. What do you mean 8 huges, half of them dragons?

I think either the LSD, LRD or Beholder will be the next figure to pass the $100 mark. All are highly popular with all gropus of DM-players: RPG-ers, skirmishers, and collectors. All three are also non-setting specific, which will help as well. If there are no resculpts or varieties on the way (which would lessen the desirability for RPG-ers) it's got to be one of those three.

With my dragon collection, that would be nothing but good news! [:D]

especially if it happened to both! [}:)]

Damn! I still don't have as many LRD's as you do. Almost, but not there yet.

I did not hear that before so add blue and brass to my list for the half dragon guess.

I'd like to see that happen, 6 dragons out of 12 huges, but I have to say that with Tiamat and the Blue Dracolich confirmed and a high probability of a Huge Black Dragon (without rider[:p]), you list seems improbable. If there indeed are 6 of em, please add a silver, white and green one to my list of wants.

I will point to the LRD versus the LSD as proof. Why is the most popular dragon -red- cost less than the silver, because their are two options for big red dragons. Either the LRD or HRD while silver only had the LSD until the MSD in the last set.

So those of you who are, your opinion will be more valid as long as you consider assumed production run sizes (lower = higher value; older sets lower production runs) and availability of boosters (harder to find sets will have figures that command higher prices)

THe LSD is the most expesive of the Dragons based upon that high school economic theory... "Supply and Demand." WHile I will admit that I really like the LRD more than the LSD, for whatever reason, Archfiends did have the lowest released production run of all of the sets. Fewer LSD out there so if you want one, the price is higher. The availibilty of the set, coupled with the improved quality of the sculpts and paint jobs (in general) is why Archfiends has blown past Harbinger in price. If you go on Ebay, it is easier to find Harbinger Entry and Booster Packs than it is to find Archfiends.

I agree that the newer sets with larger production runs will NEVER have figures that reach the same price levels as the "popular" minis from the first three sets, unless DDM gets WAY more popular...

Look at Magic cards - nothing has ever come anywhere near the price of the original power nine. One big reason for that is that they printed so few of them.

I had expectations that the giants would start to increase in value, but recent releases of large uncommons, and even some giants amongst them have squashed that idea.

Still, one never knows. Eberron grows in popularity, and there is an entire unexplored continent that they once ruled, chock full of magic items and treasure.

There is only one 'named' giant so far, King Snurre, so the nametag factor will never bite, but Dariustad could say the smae for his dragons. I suppose he has Paladine, Takhisis and Tiamat to look forward to.

Now those three could crash the $100 mark.

The dragons have been doing extraordinarily well for me! Even if the only "named" minis we ever get are the aspects of Bahamut and Tiamat. I can live with that, especially with a spell that appears in Races of the Dragon. We need an aspect of Bahamut more than ever now!

Takhisis is Tiamat in the Dragonlance world. All you have to do is change the name.

I based my guess about 6 dragons on the history of sets compared to their names. With Dragoneye there were 7 dragon types in the set. With Angelfire we got 8+ angel/demon types. With GoL there came 8+ giants. Deathknell 10+ undead. So I feel the same will apply here and we 8+ dragons.

Now I apologize for the temporary high jack. I started this speculation for my reasoning why no single dragon figure would command an extremely high price. (the guess being a Huge Silver Dragon in WotDQ would suppress the rise of the LSD prices as I am guessing the HRD did to the LRD - and while agree the detail and quality has gotten better with each set overall, the LRD is much better sculpt than is the LSD IMO)

This is one time when skirmish definitely made the figure. The LSD, for most people [)], is a "one of" for RPG purposes. However, it was the only figure making LG somewhat viable for quite a while. It was also released in one of the most popular sets produced: Archfiends. The Huge Silver (when made) won't replace the Large Silver. Each one is in a different size (and age) category, thus making them unique as far as draconic sculpts go.
