| While cleaning up for a Super bowl party tomorrow, I got the urge to pop out and set up a confrontation between the Dwarves (and two Constructs) and the Orcs with their Giant Friends. I only used the ones I have out of the bags...Someone had asked about some of the listing I had for minis... Someday elves vs demons...

| Wow, my imagination ran wild. Unfortunately although I hate to say it I am afraid that the orc force looks a little more intimidating. Maybe it is because of those dwarf barbarians standing as the front line that I just can't imagine being barbarians with much of a punch!

| | One thing that's cool about the set up is that it looks like the dwarves are more organized than the orcs. The orcs are mostly a mass of armed flesh with giants in the back. The dwarves have a lot of order. Nice touch. | |

| love the facts that the dwarven barbs are used as fodder (you got a lot of those, I only kept one for the collection!) and some of the orcs seem to be fighting amongst themselves.

How long did it take to set up?
How long will it take to put away? Will this get done before the Super bowl?
How long would it take to complete this skirmish to the finish (last beast standing)?
Does your wife really know how many miniatures you really have?

About an hour I would guess. The dwarves took a little longer. What with getting them into battle squads. Note the Dwarf Artificers surrounding one of the Titans. Perhaps it has been acting a little wonky at times. As I mentioned, those were my opened ones. I gave that a thought as I was trying to figure out how many activations each side had...A LOT. Of course one good Red Dragon and large parts of the field get cleared out.

Yup, them barbs just kept showing up faster than they would go away...I decided that they had to be skirmishers/fodder up front. Anvil of Thunder are right behind them. Dwarf Sargeants are scattered about trying to keep thing coordinated. Leaders are middle back, waiting to meet the Orc leaders. Once I dropped the two Warforged Titans onto the dwrf side, I figured I should get some Giants to work with the Orcs. However, since most good Orc commanders are Half Orcs and that box was not touched, we got chaos battle swarm going. The flanking giants have the dual task of keeping them orcs going in the right direction. | |

where are all of those Dwarven Defenders, they would pack a huge punch!
Looks pretty sweet.
We did orcs/gobbo's attacking a castle, and the PC's had units
to defend the front side so they got all of the soldierly looking
pieces. That was a blast. Be sure to include something huge with
trample though, you should have seen thier faces!

They have compared to what I paid/traded to get them. Perhaps from $0.10 to $0.15, I mean thats a 50% jump!....well if anyone really wants one, but I have actually moved a few this past year. | |

Yah, well, they are elsewhere, or still in bags, just like a bunch more Dwarven Samurai that did make the team. I mean I have to have a reserve squad for when the Goblins and Bugbears and Half Orcs attack aided by the trolls! Dwarves and Gnomes and Halflings for a battle of the midgets! | |

| Nice. I tried to run a 4 way battle once with each faction having ~1000 points (Pre-epic era). THere were between 50 and 65 minis per team and the game took three weeks with all of the activations.
CG won in the end (Valenar and Centaur Warchief was a doozy in that game.

She has been a regular in the RPG games for a few years now, as well as the two boys of one of the other older players as well. Something to keep in mind, as I try to get up to speed on the DDM side of things, if she has an interest, I will surely encourage it. | |

| Did a little counting during cleanup today...
I decided to count after I had already put away most of the orcs, but here is the tally on the Dwarf side:
Gold -15, Duergar - 35, Eberk - 12, Tordek -15, Anvil, 19, Moradin - 37, Mercs - 6, Hill - 42, Fighter - 87, Sarge - 19, Raider - 7, Phalanx - 4, Caver - 4, Wizard - 3, Artificer - 7, Samurai - 3 and Barbarians - 101 and of course the 2 Warforged Titans...
For a grand total of 422 dwarves and 2 Titans...
That is a lot of activations to track....grin

Now you just need to add some Hill Giant Barbarians & Chieftains, some Orc Marauders, King Obould, a few Dwarven Warpriests and an Aspect of Moradin and you'll be all set. | |

That's a lot of minis. Question Big Z, Why???? Would you ever really need this many in an RPG game???? I have tons of minis too but after I guess the fifth set I kinda trimmed things down and concentrated on getting multiple rares I would actually use at least someday. Dire Ape x6, Carrion Crawler x8 etc.....
My cap is 12 minis of any one kind (Caravan Guards, Human Crossbowmen and City Guards are exceptions....) GRIN
I'm just glad to see that you're crazy and I'm all fine.....GRIN
