No kidding! I'm surprised that wasn't the first comment here! I'm assuming the image of the flame breath was added to the poster image since it seems to come off of the base. Hard to see the back of it, but not bad looking. | |

As far as I know, the same art process is used, but the layout and colour was added to help people read the skirmish side of the card easier.

I think someone is mistaking the Medium Black Dragon on that one. All the tiles and minis pictured look to be from the original box set, and probably have little/nothing to do with the new Basic Set.

| on the first picture, what figures are shown:
1. between the left Skeletal Equiceph and the LEE? (some sort of giant with a warhammer? or is it Kord?)
2. between the half-fiend ogre and the spiritfolk fighter? (looks like some sort of dragon? is it the deep or something else?)
can't see them quite clearly.

That would be me. I never picked up the basic set, so didn't really know what the contents were. I thought that could have been the MBD, but wasn't sure....

And here I was hoping for a change back to b/w [)] I think the majority agreed the b&w was not as nice so they changed it on aberrations...didn't exactly mean it was going to be a trend for every starter set. I am still having trouble adapting to the new layout (but I haven't played as much compared to pre-aberrations times).
I'd welcome another layout and color scheme eventually. | |

I think all the other mins we see are Underdark.

| The real kick is that the boxes probably aren't mock-ups but the real item. So, you've got one set of items on the display, and the real images on the box.
But the "important" thing is that the customers DON'T get free previews of upcoming products. | |
