Thank god psistef doesn't do the writeups for the previews, he'd mess with our collective heads way too much.

I sure hope not. I don't want to have a harder time trying to find some pieces. It's hard enough already to get some of the rares.

If their SWM line has seen that collectors buy more product proportionally speaking due to VR figures, of course it's bound to happen with DDM. Problem is, this will only affect noobs, b/c collectors like many of us have ample trade fodder to get what we want.

I have said forever that some rares are rarer than others, and I stick to my guns, even if it's not official.

I'm a single case buyer, then I get individual boosters from my FLGS. I've definitely had bad luck with the last 3 sets, in that the "top 4" that I wanted in each set didn't appear in my case. Thats 0-for-12.

I've actually had pretty good luck in my FLGS buying (hmmm...maybe the FLGS Gods are trying to tell me something), so while I'm not ready to agree with you wholeheartedly, I'm definitely starting to wonder.

Well if there are 60 figs in the WotDQ set and there were 72 in GOL. We kind of knew the distribution had to be different, didn't we?

I won't start panicing until the official "Panic Now!" light is turned on. I will be watching the light though.

You know, this is a pretty bold statement as there are huge disagreements on how people want the rarity of huges to work. There are a large number of people that want all huges to have the same rarity, another large group of people that want 6 uncommons and 6 commons (with a 2 uncommon for every rare ratio), and still another set of people that *would* like to see very rares implemented as a 3rd huge set of rarity (in a system like: 2 very rares in the set, 7 rares in the set, and 3 uncommons in the set with a rarity ratio of 1 : 2 : 3 - in 25 figures, you'd get 1 of each very rare, 2 of each rare and 3 of each uncommon).

I doubt we'll see a '50 point' set. I think from here on out, they'll all be either 200 point normal sets (with a few epics tossed in), or 500 point huge packs.

Besides, the set after WotDQ is AotNM, not DF. AotNM is the long awaited Attack of the Ninja Monkies set, featuring anthropomorphic monkeys, vanara, weremonkies, girallons, and su-monsters - all with levels in ninja.

Very Rare would be bad for the more casual buyer's. Some of us just cant afford to buy cases, or use ebay....

Im hoping that the "varying degrees of rarity to enhance collectability" is referring to the new Huge distribution.

A thing to keep in mind: Labels are not what is important in rarity assignments: distribution is.

For instance, let's say that there are 12 different huge figures with 4 being uncommon, 4 being rare, and 4 being very rare. Let's say that uncommons appear in 7 of every 18 boosters, rares appear in 6 of every 18 boosters and very rares appear in 5 of every 18 boosters. On average, in 3 (6 booster) cases, you'd expect to get: 1 & 3/4 of each uncommon, 1 & 1/2 of each rare and 1 & 1/4 of each very rare. You'd probably need to be told which were the very rares and which were the uncommons under that scheme.

We'll have to wait and see. Personally, I'd prefer to see some of the huge figures be just as rare as the standard rares in the pack (if there are standard rares in the pack - one theory is that the huges are all rares, and that there are no other rares in the packs). I'd also prefer some of the huge figures to be more common, so that it is easier to get them in multiples. If there is a huge earth elemental, I want it to be easier to get him than to get the dracolich. Of course, many people hate that idea ...

My guess is that you will be more likely to get a huge rare in each pack, rather than the lame huge uncommons.

I think we jumped the gun here. I'm thinking, especially after Shoe's comment that we do not need to worry.

Any way, I'm sure that any information that is put out is ment for the whole world from novice to experienced, so we may know that they have C/UC/R, but some one new may not.

Since we only know of 2 Huges its hard to guess what they are doing. If they "Learned" from GOL then my guess is that there will be no distinct rarity for Huges and that is why there are 6 to a case. This would technicly mean that Huges would be half as rare as the standard rare.

WotC did indeed learn from GoL. Exactly what was learned is a mystery though. Even when the rarity scheme is presented to us, it will still be massive speculation as to what WotC did learn and are thinking (I don't mean that in negative terms, just that as outsiders, we aren't privvy to the internal workings of the company).

Some folks will never be happy no matter what, and others don't seem to mind anything that WotC does. Most of us are probably somewhere in the middle.

I think the move from twelve packs a case to 6 packs is to help retailers who were worried about getting "stuck" with slow/non-moving product (the price is nearly double that of a standard booster after all, and that's likely to slow the volume at least a little bit). The cash expenditure on the part of the store should be about the same as a standard case of minis, and that will give more stores a better chance to figure out how fast and how well WDQ will move. After that, shops can up their orders if needed.

I'm happy that Wizards are going to try and fix the distribution problem. I wait in baited breath to hear what the solution will be. In the mean-time, bring on Wardrums!

guys (and the 3 or so girls out there).. settle down. Theres not a damn thing you can do and whining about it just makes this place more like the wizards boards, IGN, etc.

Have a drink, smoke um if ya got em and.. um. relax.

or keep spamming away and bumping up your post count.
