Ian Richards has gotten approval for us to webcast the War Drums pre-release as a community event!!!!! You'll get to see all the new stuff just as quickly as we do!!!!! Its not as good as being at the pre-release itself, but its the next best thing. :)
Dariustad has generously offered to set up an IRC channel for the event, allowing you to communicate with us on the event floor. I'm hoping I can get some WOTC folk to come by and say a few words, and it will also let you chatter with each other and share the excitement of the event.
The webcast will be a static capture; streaming video would simply be too bandwidth intensive to accomodate and would generate more technical issues for people wishing to view. While high bandwidth is recommended, a 56K connection should be sufficient for updates (which will be 150-200K in size).
THIS WEBCAST WILL NOT BE ARCHIVED BY ME. Each update replaces the existing image. The images sent will be in JPG format, ready to save and edit if you desire. If anyone wishes to archive it, they can right-click on the image and save it to their computer. I am hoping that at least one person will do so to help get information out to the rest of the community that are not able to view the webcast (time differences, etc).
The pictures I'll be able to supply won't be perfectly sharp; its one of the sacrifices that must be made for the speed and variety of the content. I'll make sure that all the stat cards are legible to the point that people can figure out what they say even if its not crystal clear. I'm planning on packing a couple cannister lights in case they're needed to help the visuals.

PLEASE don't click refresh on your browser while viewing the webcast. The page updates automatically. All you're doing by clicking refresh is draining more bandwidth and server resources.

Dariustad says he will be logging the complete event.
War Drums pre-release begins at 1pm GST / 8am EST, though its likely that it will take a little bit to get organized and rolling. My first priority will be to pop open my pack and get a set list available for viewing. I'll leave this available for the first 10-15 minutes, along with a view of one of the War Drums maps (if the camera makes it look good). Following this, I will attempt to gather pieces for viewing by set order. It will take a while to show all the pieces off, as I'll have to rely on the players to relinquish them between matches or from their sideboard. I'll give each piece a few moments in the spotlight while I set up the next piece. After I have had a chance to run through the complete set once, I'll turn one camera out for watching skirmish action and I'll do my best to take requests from IRC for minis and stat cards people want to see (latecomers).
I'm hoping I'll be able to get him and/or Shoe to pop on the IRC channel for a span of time to add some commentary about the set and maybe answer a few questions for those of you who couldn't make it to the Q&A. I'll have to work out the logistics of that with Dariustad to be sure the IRC channel stays in line.
If there is enough interest and I am not completely worn out, I'll try to provide coverage of the final 4 matchups so people can get an idea of what pieces are delivering a good performance before the release tourney.
Problems viewing the webcast?
The webcast is ent via HTTP. No special plugins required. However, its possible for your browser to pull older copies of the page from your cache. Its best for you to set your browser to fetch a new copy of the page on every visit (this is typically set in your cache/temporary internet files preferences). If that fails, clear your cache.
It is recommended that you join the IRC channel if you can, as the people there (including myself) should be able to assist you with technical problems if you have them.
I also have to mention that its possible (though unlikely) that the server might not be able to accomodate the loads. I have *NO* idea how many people are going to be watching this, since I have had 700+ hits between the posts I have made but fewer than 100 postings expressing interest. Anyhow, if it breaks it breaks. I'm putting this together with the resources I have at my disposal and I'm crossing fingers that its going to be a great event for all.

I'm likely bringing a Verizon cellular Internet access card. If the conference area can't support a cell signal, then we're screwed... otherwise, should be just fine.
In terms of the D&D forum, I figured that people would want to know but could wait. I'm thinking of the people who stay up late with their fingers poised over their mouse buttons clicking refresh to get the Thursday preview. I know I do. Everyone wants to see the good news ASAP.
