| Well, now THAT was a surprise.
I don't know if it's a "welcome" suprise, or just a "normal" suprise yet. I'll have to see how my cases go...
Thanks for the confirmation, Shoe! It's always good to get these little tidbits of information. | | Champion of the Werewolf Lord, Knight of Anything Duergar, and Squire of Things Gnollish List reset with the start of previews for each new set...got Chainmail®?

Based on Shoe's comment, the Nov 2006 and March 2007 sets will probably go back to 24/24/12, assuming they are regular booster sets.
Yep alot of people seemed to miss that comment. Good to see, I think this is a solid distribution for a starter. | | Im out- find me on Hordelings if you want to chat.

| Is this where I'm supposed to say "I told you so?"
As soon as they announced there would be 7 uncommon commanders (Preview 4), I made a comment about the distribution change:

The distribution is changing again. 7 Uncommons per slot means 21 Uncommons total. I'm not 100% sure what this means, but I don't see them returning to 16 Commons, so...

Have to chime in and agree with the level of surprise. Depends greatly on what those other commons are as well for me. Someone cast Augery ~ 16 solid commons then wael, 16 mediocre or bleh ones then woe. | | You see! There ARE others out there just like me. What? Why are laughing?

| | 23 rares means you have a higher chance of getting a duplicate rare in a case as well. | | | |

Not necessarily ... we don't have a highly detailed description of the packing process. It is possible to design a system that would prevent duplicates in a case. While it probably won't be all that common, it would take a pretty complex packing process to still appear random and split 23 different rares into cases that each hold 12 without having a chance of repeating a rare. | | Quis custodiet ipsos custodes--Who will gaurd the guards? | Thanks Shoe: This news has made me very, very happy. I remember back when they changed the ratio people were quite bothered. The major complaint was the overwhelming number of commons each of us would now get. I am somewhat surprised by the number of people who are looking forward to it going back to the Deathknell, Angelfire ways? I love this new distribution and would hope it would continue. It made me order another case because I know I want to flooded with more commons. More choice is very good in commons. Of course the choice of commons is also very important.
Once again, great news!!! | | Give me more MIND FLAYERS!

In this starter set, the number of commons is increased to 16, while the number of uncommons and rares are 21 and 23, respectively. This is the same distro as Aberrations, and was inferred in the War Drums Previews series when those articles indicated that there were only 7 uncommon commanders.
Which I prefer to 24r-24u-12c
Lowers duplication at the bottom end.
I'd prefer 19r-21u-20c but I can't see that happening.

| this would mean in a case you would get:
12 rares 3 of each common! 1-2 of each uncommon, but with more chance of 2!
nice! this, combined with the set-list have just made me up my preorder to 3 cases (1 originally, upped it to 2 earlier after the news of the Hill Giant Chief)
