Thank you Talafenix for a very generous offer. And you and Shoe are sure showing your fanboy colours in soliciting our concerns.

| I am was very pleasantly shocked to see who started this thread and the offer made. That was very generous of you and I deeply appreciated this step you have made.
I was out of town for a week after the release event and wasn't able to get a lot of War Drums until after getting back. I read a long (7+ pages) thread listing many problems with War Drums. I must say that I like what you (WotC DDM people) have done with War Drums. Yes, there are a few things that could have been better. However, I really like several of the miniatures and the sculpts on the whole were fabulous.
I have complained loudly here or there in the past. I may complain here or there in the future. However, since I have recently felt how much you guys care about us, the customers, and about the product (in large part due to the WF webcast and IRC), I want to step back and apologize for complaining as loudly as I may have. I think it would be wonderful reading your explanations of things more often. I know a lot of us are constantly clamoring to learn about coming miniatures. I understand that WotC wants to control outflow of information about coming releases. However, if you guys could offer more insight into what has already been released, that would be much appreciated. I made a post on Rav950's thread including a suggestion about more articles for the DDM section of WotC boards. I am curious to see what you guys think about that. | | "Look to God and live." | Co-signed. One of my favorite games is PlanetSide, because the developers really do play it alongside us and see the things we see. I have since come to hope for that in all games I play that have ongoing, expandable content.
DDM has that. Shoe and Talfenix are clearly 'part of us', using the same terminology we do and understanding the game much as we do. I disagree with some of the design choices made, but having visible human beings who play the same game in about the same way we do is encouraging. You two are a big part of why I play DDM.
Having a 'rules lawyer' we can consult with -- Guy -- is spiffy. Where else can I expect a rules answer within 24-48 hours, often much sooner, and it's official by WotC standards? Most games I know of don't have a staff member respond that fast in any meaningful way. Guy is a big part of why I play DDM.
The existence of a community (MaxMinis) that values high-level competitive play, and is visited by all three of the above, is a big deal to me. It shows a neat, cohesive whole. In no other mass-market competitive game can I trade ideas with world champions, get kicked around by their latest designs, etc. People like Kiddoc, Fenris, DoubtofBuddha, Derry, ChrisGroves, etc. are a positive thing for the game.
I might shoot you guys an email -- or physical letter -- in the near future, but I'll try to keep it brief if I do. Just wanted to let you know you're all a huge part of why I play this game. | | - Irrationally Fanatical Champion of Pegasus-mounted cavalry - Proud member of Team Low Tier Beasting: I play CG as my main faction! - Garland, TX 2006 Qualifier Champion My trading thread: http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=19725

| There's critic and there's insult... You can have an opinion but telling us 'it sucks' means little... tell us why you think it sucks in a debate manner and we'll listen. Not saying we can change your views or we agree but we do listen and we do champion the causes if we consider there is a genuine issue.
Shoe and I just stepped out of a meeting together. We went in with differing views... we rolled initiative, he won and went first. I activated in response and he then promptly won the second initiative... 30 minutes later my leader surrendered and he won... I jest... we constantly talk and not just the two of us. R&D and OP constantly talk about the game so we can ensure we evolve in the direction we all most want. We bring the consumer view in line with the business model as much as possible. To be honest the team is a pleasure to work with and I give Stephen and Jesse a lot of stick but alround their a dream to work with.

That's great to hear. I'll chime in with my thanks for keeping an eye on these boards. It's good to know that we're heard. | | You know, I keep thinking that after the new design team gets done with D&D 4e, D&D won't stand for Dungeons and Dragons anymore, because well, that's just not fun. | I am sorry, but my post was civil, I did not say it "sucked", I only hinted at the issues many here named many times. Let me see if I can put this nicely. Surely you have seen the maxmini banner, and surely we have seen our Chimeras with a brown goat head and unpainted horns. I know that we can repaint it, but I would hate to touch such a fine sculpt and not all of us have Runelord's, Sulaco's and other repainter's talents. That is one example of what I meant, and I am not intentionnaly insulting or attacking you or WoTc, I am just dissapointed. I love the sculpts, the choice of monsters, the focus on Warforged, the quality increase in commons and uncommons, etc.
No one expected WD to be perfect, I would have just liked the miniatures to look as exquisite paint-wise as in the previews. | Hi Shoe and Ian,
First of all, thank you all very much for your time, input, and patience. Though I'm a now-almost-luker, I really appreciate the time you take to listen and respond to us. I'll be honest: I can't afford to properly collect DDM (so I don't), but I still avidly follow discussions, previews, rule changes, tourney reports, and make the odd purchase here and there... one of the main reasons I haven't dropped this game altogether is your input.
On a side note, I see similar behaviour on the AH AAM board from WotC Bob and the AAM crew. If I might ask a question, do you DDM minis folks and the AAM crew liase much, and are there many things applicable from the various experiences from AAM that might be brought into DDM?
Anyway, thanks for your time, and that's just my 2 ep worth,

| are you willing to accept that the paint jobs on the masters wont be the same as the models you pull from boosters? if not.. well.. something. I dont know.
Am I disappointed somewhat in the paint jobs? yes. The before and after shots were incredible. but did that make me hate DDM? nope.. made me want to bust out a paintbrush and do some touchups. yes, Im insane.. but I know that the masters and the ones I get arent gonna be identical.
when I tried to play / paint warhammer, my models had probably 20-30 paint steps to get them just the way I wanted them (space orcs wearing blue jeans and doc martens). and even then I looked and said "I dont like it, need a better paint job". ugh. but I look at War Drums and say "hey.. these arent bad.. but they could be better. Maybe I could add an accent stripe to Khumat. and paint up his loin cloth." and stuff like that. Will I get around to it? probably not. but I could. and if it bothered me that much.. i Might. but they are as good or better a paint job than I expected and some of them are just incredible (tiefling is probably my favorite mini ever). so I take the good with the bad and suck it up. and since Shoe and others have come by and said "er.. yeah. we see it too.. it wont happen again" Im good with it. | | Minis... | | The quality of the paintjobs on my Wardrums is terrible. I can barely recognize them as miniatures at all. I look at the table top and my eyes can't even focus on them. It's as if they aren't there at all, just figments of my imagination. Maybe its the lackluster paint, the low grade workmanship. Maybe its because I forgot to order any again. Maybe they'd start to look better if I had some to look at. Yep, that's probably it. [:D]

| WOW, it is great to see another WotC person posting, especially after lurking. It is great to have Ian, Shoe, Jesse, and now Lidda posting here. The nice thing is we seem to get some great hints over here from these people.
I would say that I am very pleased to have all the comments, hints, information, and FAQs that you have provided us. I'm also glad you have opened up lines of communication to allow us as a communitee to voice concerns and questions.
One question I would ask, could you let us know when things have happend that we as a group helped to be a part of. I heard about the one with MM4 and the WTF, but reading Lidda's post about the WotDQ and CRD, I'm just curious what else we have affected. For one, I've put design for the WoDQ checklist poster on hold until we can figure out the best way to showcase the figure images.

Thanks to everyone for all the positive feedback. Our ears are open.
