| No, this isn't about War Drums... this is about Giants of Legend! I decided to look through the gallery and see if there were any significant differences from the pint masters - mind you, i don't have a complete set; I'm still missing about six GoL figures (Red Wyrmling, HRD, Lord Soth, Stone Golem, Inspiring Marshall, Minotaur Skeleton, Half-Giant Psychic Warrior), but I've seen enough of the others to be able to judge how tey are in telation to the paint masters.
Rakshasa: missing a lot of minor details in his clothing (black patterns on gold, for example)
Zombie: Paint master has gray skin, mine have brown.
Lich Necromancer: Paint master has mottled red clothing, mine is a solid color.
Tanarukk: paint master has painted toenails and different teeth. Mine have sloppy teeth and no painted toenails.
Standardbearer: Mine have one-color armor. The paint master has different shades in the armor.
Huge Gold Dragon: Different shadws of yellow and gold, and there are obviously extra paint washes applied to the fins that aren't on mine.
Dwarf Sergeant: Many extra clors added to the armor
Sword of Glory: Metallic paint used in the master but not the figure
Warforged Fighter: MORE little nuts and bolts are painted in the master than in the figure
Cloud Giant: The black wash applied to his clothing is not on my figures.
Warmage: Mine have no silver paint applied to the studs on his armor.
Fire Giant: Mine does not have all of the different clothing colors as the master, and the hilt of his sword looks different.
King Snurre: Completely different color for the pants. Also, the master has about two or three colors used for Snurre's hair and beard - mine has one (neon orange)
Storm Giant: Studs on the skirt are not painted in mine
Redgar, Adventurer: Nearly all of the detail is missing here.
Eberk, Adventurer: My figures are missing almost all of the gold detailing, and instead are mostly metallic blue.
Treant: Mine is missing green paint for most of the little sprigs and leaves on the figure. It also has a weird black wash.
Basilisk: The paint on the spikes is far more pronounced on the paint master than the original
Behir: The paint master is two shades of blue. The regular figure has two shades of blue, but with a wash of white paint over his underbelly.
Fire Genasi Dervish: paint master has two shades of orange for hair, mine has one.
Fiendish Tyrannosaurus: Orange paint on the warts is missing
Blue: Lots of little details are missing on all of mine
Bulette: paint on the warts is missing from mine
Dire Rat: The paint master has detailing on the spikes, mine have a small was of paint.
Fomorian: White stitches on the arm gauntlets are not present on my figures.
Otyugh: Green detailing on the legs and the colored warts are missing from mine. Also missing is the white paint for its spines and next-to-the-eye teeth.
Githyanki Renegade: Bost of mine are missing about half of the small details. It's like Redgar.
Frost Giant: Mine has a lot more white on it than the paint master
Nightwalker: The paint master is a lot more sparkly than any of my five Nightwalkers
Hobgoblin Sergeant: Mine range from bright red to neon orange. None of them are dark red.
Lizardfolk Rogue: Missing the small black wash over his torso
Manticore: Missing the detailing on the spines.
Drow Rogue: Missing the detailing on his shirt
Orc Brute: Missing a few small details on his clothing
Dire Wolf: Mine has two shades of gray for the fur. The paint master has more.
Lareth the Beautiful: TONS of detail missing from his armor in the regular version. Also, the face is messier on the real figure. | | Owner of The Original Rust Monsters! | | Ive experience the same disappointment with the HobGob Seargent, the Sword of Glory, and the Dwarf Sarge, but for the most part i think the paints jobs leave out less steps than wardrums | | Champion of Troglodytes! | | I wonder what we could find if we studied the other sets... | | Owner of The Original Rust Monsters! | Shadows, details... There's no doubts the master-paints are better (that's why they are called MASTER).
If you posted this thread for making people think about their complaints about War Drums, it really made me think "GoL rocks, WD blows." Sorry, but there's no comparison.
Please, let's move on! | | - Vindicated Night Below Called Shot: Darkmantle - Desert of Desolation Called Shot: Merchant - Champion of the Nymph | |

| | Yea no one has gotten mad that the Master Paints and the regular ones arent exactly the same. Its just the sheer amount that went wrong in War Drums. If you dont think so, cool man. But lots of people just found WD way more dissapointing than any other set. | | Champion of a Knight of Takhisis/Knight of Neraka | |

| I can't figure out why people are surprised by this type of thing.
Does the Whopper, Big Mac, or Bacon Ultimate Cheeseburger on TV look like the one you buy at the Fast Food place? Do the serving girls at your local Hooters look like the girls in Hooters ads in magazines? Do your GI Joe figures come to life and fight off the Cobra figures?
The gallery is used to sell the product. Most advertising tools are a bit unrealistic. When compared to a lot of other differences between product and ad, the differences between the paint masters and the DDM product as sold is not that big. There are a few significant changes in a few pieces, but most of them are just fine. | | Champion of Meepo _*_ Myztek on the Wizards Boards. _*_ (2206 DDM on 03/06/06) Please note: The use of the indicates an attempt at humor ... often a bad attempt.
