| This list is compiled from the DCI Tournament Locator. This is not an April Fools Joke. Anyone can verify the list by simply going to the tournament locator and searching for future events.

| Only 20 locations...plus the last chance one at Gencon prolly. Is that the same number as last year? None in WI or MO, IA, IN...That Chicago qualifier is going to be CROWDED, especially when there are 200 kids running around playing magic or Yug-io.

| This looks bad for me too. The one in my state (several hundred miles away, of course) is on a weekend that may be contested with other events for me.
Otherwise, it looks like a drive across country is in order. I hope gas is less than $4 a gallon by then.

| Yeah, I'm a little surprized at Santa Clara being the only spot in CA. Obviously it's where Guy, Derry and those dudes are. But I'm happy I get the qualifier again at my FLGS since I wasn't into the game much last year and will get a chance to play this time. I'll be pushing this so we get a good turnout.

It's certainly possible that I missed one or that one has not been posted yet. This list is compiled from the DCI Tournament Locator. It's not the official list, but my guess is that this is the final list of events. I too was surprised that there were no events in the Northwest. I guess folks are going to have to drive down to Santa Clara, CA for a qualifier.

| I REALLY hope that is not a complete list.
Chicago is gonna be a dogfight.
From the Quad Cities: 8.5 hours to Richmond 5.75 hours to St Louis Park 6.25 hours to Ypsilanti
Not looking good for making it to anywhere except Chicago, which really sucks, as we will have 7-10 guys looking to qualify, and only 2 that are almost guaranteed spots based on ranking.
And I despise going to the Niles store. Fighting for space with 75 unsupervised pre-teens/teens playing yu-gi-oh and running amok, NOT good times. I really wish this event had gone to a store that knows and plays and supports DDM instead. Some place that would make this event top priority for a weekend, instead of an interuption in the yu-gi-oh/magic crowd.

| not on that list is the Euro Tourney that someone said was going to be a qualifier. but that brings it to 21.. and Im pretty sure thats what we were told it was going to be.

ATL isnt inside 6-8 hours, but Im down there 2-3 times a year for various reasons. so i might be down there "accidently" during that weekend. or something. so.. the most populous area of the continent got several qualifiers for those willing to drive 8 hours at far above the posted speed limit. | | Minis... | Wow, looking at the map shows just how sparse the events are in the West. That kinda sucks really. You'd think they'd even things out more. Out on the East it'd be pretty easy to make a small weekend trip to so many of the close locations.

Population density does explain a bit of it, but not all of it. Twin Falls, Idaho has a qualifier despite being relatively close (3.5 hours) to Salt Lake City which also has a qualifier. While the Pacific Northwest, which has much more population density with Portland, Seattle and Vancouver, does not have an event at all.
The difference here is that Twin Falls has a DDM event every week, rain or shine or so it seems. I can't tell if anyone actually shows up to these events as they've changed the results of the query, and it no longer includes a list of the people that played. Meanwhile, there hasn't been an event in Washington or Oregon since last July. British Columbia, however, has had two events this year... both in February, at different stores.
Basically there hasn't been much consistency in the Pacific Northwest... and despite the population density, the OP folks opted to go with a proven performer in Twin Falls. That said, I think I could make an argument for holding one somewhere in the Pacific Northwest... despite the inconsistency.

Sounds like a great idea... then why has there been such relatively poor attendance to most DDM events in the Pacific Northwest including qualifiers... which did have some WotC and Dragon Mag staff lurking?
I don't know what's up with that part of the country. I know there are plenty of gamers up there... but there just hasn't been a lot of love for DDM.
