As stated numerous times, in numerous places, Paint Masters exist to show the pinnacle of achievement, and to get the purchaser excited about what may be in the booster. At the same time, when the boosters are opened, and compared to what's expected, there's a level of disappointment. Lidda has stated that after WotDQ, Production models will be used for promoting the product on boxes, posters, etc. Paint Masters will remain hidden from general view.
Personally, I LIKE seeing the Masters, it gives me ideas for repaints/touchups, but would also like to know what I'm getting. How can we have both?

I honestly don't think we can.

Yes, the paint masters are very pretty, but the disappointment of seeing a PM and then seeing a much less impressive production figure is going to cause disappointment and anger.

Nothing disappointed me more than opening a booster of finding the copper dragon without that very cool tarnished finish on the wings.

Give me the actual prod figures any day.

WotC - making me wish more and more every day for a return to the TSR days. :(

I fought the snark and the snark won. I'm baaaaaaaaaaack!

Its more a matter of pleasing the most people and NOT pissing off other people.

Paint Master Expectations - Production Quality recieved = pissed buyers

Production Expectations - Production recieved = satisfied buyers

Secondary sites displaying repaints or paint master - cool to look at

Built the addition for this addiction, now on to the "gaming table" project....

It doesn't matter too me. Its not the paint job that drive me nuts..cause I can just paint over top what I want. Its the minis that they choose too create over the demand of the people that drives me mad. [:D]

Odd, my copper dragon has a patina on the wings. My Bronze dragon, on the other hand.... [:P]

Sounds like the decisions been made (after the *&%$storm from War Drums) to go with production-value promotional materials post-DQ. Can't say I blame Lidda (et al) for this decision, although I do like to see the paint masters. If the switch derails constant complaints, however, I can live without the paint masters. Now if we can just convince the painters to tone down the blackwash....

I care about the paint job however i undertand that we are going to get some less than great paint jobs... but i agree with yack... People want more from the core books and other matueral... I understand that they don;t want to run out of MMI monsters because it would hurt DDM. But having a set that has mostly MMIV stuff sucks... we need to see stuff from BoVD and MMI...
