| Gnomes were blamed for the leak in Preview X.
Gnomes were jokingly said to be upcomming minis in an April Fools Article.
Shoe made a joke about how the last mini in Preview X was "A Gnome mounted on a Thaskor)
Lidda joked that Wererat Rogue was misspelled on the poster and should be Wererat G-N-O-M-E.
The list of Gnome jokes goes on and on and on.
Do these jokes mean we will see them soon? Call me over sensitive...But isnt joking about Gnome minis while having no intention of ever making them....well...In bad taste?
I dont think they would do that to people who relly want Gnome minis. I see all the jokes as a sign that there will be at least one in BloodWar. What do you all think? | | Champion of the Skulk Vindicated Champion of the Twig Blight

| No idea here. I'll bet we see one or two gnomes in the next year, but I wouldn't hope for too much more. Personally, I think the following are must have:
Gnome Bard Svirneblin (or however you spell deep gnome) Rogue or whatever
I'd love to see more than that (i.e., gnome expert (tinkerer), gnome rogue, forest gnome druid, etc.) but those two really need to be done. | | Have: Cat; Want: Storm Giant Champion of Anything Dragonlance Before trading, please check the Disputed Trades Thread

| It seems likely they'll at least have one comming out soon.
Gnomes are a bit of an enigma. People tend to really like them or not at all. Even though they are a core race sometimes they seem to be under represented in published materials.
And then there's the whole small minis suck contingent.
Still, as of late it seems the pro Gnome camp is the stronger one so in time unless things change I think Gnome minis are in our future.

| Here is my take: [:)]
Gnomes are commonly known as tricksters. Perhaps Shoe and the gang feel that those who enjoy playing gnomes can appreciate the humor and the jokes without being offended. For the most part, I think that is true. After all, we do know that they enjoy playing around and being cryptic, so this is just another aspect of that.
However, on some level, those who play gnome characters and use gnome NPCs should have their request honored just as other requests get honored. Just like any joke, it can be funny the first time or two, but it can get old and tired if overused. It can start to feel more deflating if it is the running joke, with no end in sight. Even gnomes can get serious every once in a while. [:)]
With WotDQ being Shoe's first set as the lead, I have a feeling that in the next set or two, there will be a gnome or two. I don't know his true feelings on gnomes, whether he actively hates them as some people have inferred or if he just feels there are more important figures to be made or ones that his team feels would be more well received, but I do think that he listens to the feedback he sees. It may even take a few sets, since they are probably almost done with Unhallowed from a design and/or print run selection aspect, but if there isn't one or two by that set, I really would be surprised and a bit disappointed. Until a set is finalized and printed, I am sure he can't comment on what will be in a set (because it always can change, as we have heard), but it would be nice to get an honest reply about the chances of seeing one soon. [:)] Just my two cents. | | Vindicated Champion of Green Slaad Champion of the Feyr Correct Unhallowed Called Shot - Bone Naga Night Below Called Shot - Skulk

| I am, at heart, a pessimist, so I will say no gnomes in 2006, and unlikely in 2007. Not sure why they're getting shafted, not sure why it will continue, but that's where my dark heart leads me to believe.
However, my opposing cynic says that it's possible. The set after some is jealous of my old gnomes, we'll get them. This logic also explains why I think we'll see a new Drizzt in Blood War. | | "Call no man happy til he is dead" -E Cobham Brewer

Anyway, with gnomes being a core race, they will get done again I'm sure. It is surprising how few have been made, when some of the possibilities would be so cool, the Gnome Bard especially.

I played a Gnome PC once, and often use them as NPCs. When I played a Gnome PC, it wasn't because it was "good" or "powerful" or anything else related to stats.
It was for fun. And it was fun - I enjoyed the heck out of it, insufficiencies and all. It made him a credible character, and its more appealing to me to take on a challenge with a credible character than an incredibly efficient combat machine.
I think powergaming has a lot to do with the decline of Gnome popularity. (not that I'm knocking powergamers, it has its place and can be fun) | | Champion of the Revenant Knight of the Elf Duskblade Complete Trades: Oni, Kidkach, Melrune, callidusx3
