Not a chance. I cap my maximums at about 8, and it only goes that high for "horde" figures like zombies.
I don't see the point in having hordes and hordes of opponents, especially in D&D. If you're fighting 50 skeletal dwarfs, for instance, you're probably high enough level that you can blow most or all away with a few well-placed fireballs.
I'm sure they look cool all displayed on the table, but I doubt that many of a given figure is actually useful. | |

OMG, I thought I was the only one with an Ibixian fetish? At last count, I have 51. My plan was to paint each group of about a dozen in appropriate colours for each Goatman clan from Diablo, but haven't yet decided what those colours should be, how their stats should differ, and whether my painting skills are really up to the job? | |

Seriously, some of my large total of semi useless minis is a by product of picking up collections where I am after the rares and the commons and uncommons just come along for the ride. There is no way I would ever want that many (50+) Abyssal Skulkers or Wrackspawn, but since no one else wanted them either, the seller/trader had a lot that came along with the pile, so now I have them.
I mean someone once was looking for 100 Dire Badgers...was able to help them out. I have NO idea why they wanted them??? Some things are better left unknown....[?] | |

I figured I'd trade them away over time, so far I've traded about 4 or 5 away, but probably got the $6 back in trade value.

| 137 Giant Frogs.
Hey, I got them in a huge lot on eBay for $5 ($8 after shipping). Yeah, nobody needs that many Giant Frogs, but at that price I didn't mind repainting them all variety of colors to represent other frog-types like Poisonous Frog and Ice Toad and whatnot. Others I made slight modifications to and painted gold and silver to use as statues and idols for Bullywug shrines.
Otherwise, I generally try to keep any 'horde' creature down to around 20. And as they release new versions - like new skeletons - I trade away or sell the excess ones, especially if the newer versions look much cooler, and just keep maybe 10 of a specific mini. That way I have a variety of looks. Like the Harbinger Skeleton, Archfiends Skeleton Warrior, etc.
And, yeah, higher level characters can just blast a whole swarm of skeletons or zombies. That's where strategy comes into play. Put a horde of skeletal archers on high ground, and ground troops coming in from multiple directions, not clumping them anymore than is necessary, and a fireball isn't as effective as it would be in they were all lumped into a single mass. Plus, you unleash hordes of crap grunts before a major boss-type encounter. Do it enough times and your players are bound to think twice about wasting spells when they know the real battle is yet to come. Yeah, it's a little more tedious to go hand-to-hand with a swarm of skeletons and there's a greater chance of players taking damage that way, but they'll really wish they'd held onto a couple fireball spells when they face down a a Frost Giant villain and his handful of high-level henchmen. | |

| Hmm,I'm over 50 on a few commons if you count my tradebait.Never really needed to hit 50 on things I'm keeping,most commons and uncommons I want alot of I cap in the 20's.Although I did go into the 30's and 40's on some things like...

| I think I have 50 of the Harbinger Kobold.
Next closest is probably the (GoL?) Blue at around 20 or so. I may have over 20 Orc Spearmen from Harbinger though.
I pulled a lot of Abyssal Skulkers from Angelfire, I think I got up to 15 or so before I sold off some of them.
I always seem to miss the eBay auctions for 100+ minis on the cheap. I want to find a huge horde of minis so I can scare the crap out of my players. My preference would be Astral Constructs, but I would settle for WTFs if they were cheap enough... | |

I usually cap my fave commons at 10, but i have many, many Trog Thugs and Derro!

| I have about 20+ figs that I have over 60 of. I use them to build armies and do REALLY large battles. I just set up around 1000+ over this last weekend. The one I have the most of is carvan guards. I have around 490 and use them for half of my human army. The following figs are ones I have in the 60+ range:

| The most we have of nay one mini is 27 Greycloak Rangers. We have many of "soldier" type minis in a range from 15 -25.
Even with only 27 GCRs, it stops most giants cold, especially if combined with Netenyar Hunter! | |
