I'm looking for an updated Booster Generator for doing sealed boosters for limited games, but the only one I can find says it was last updated for Angelfire. Are there any generators for Underdark and Wardrums?

If not, how do you set up limited skirmishes, using the figures you already have? I don't need the boosters to be perfectly seeded (although that would be ideal) but if there is a generator out there, I would love to use it.

Thanks!

I have yet to find a generator that uses the actual distribution of figures in each of the sets. As far as I know, nobody actually knows what the distribution scheme was for Harbinger, Dragoneye, Archfiends, and perhaps even GoL or Aberrations.

Recent sets are easy to do manually. A little searching on Maxminis will reveal the distribution slots for every set from Deathknell to War Drums. I figures out most of them, although I did not keep a consolidated record. Once you have the distribution, you can use dice to figure out which figures you use. For rares where there are more than 20 in a set, roll 2d20. If the first d20 is above 11 or above, add 20 to the result of the second die. Reroll any numbers above the total number of rare figures in the set, but each rare will have an equal probability to appear. This doesn't exactly duplicate the probabilities involved when using actual boosters because boosters from the same case do have some interrelation with regard to rares, commons and uncommons pulled, but it is close enough for most people.

Thanks guys!

Every time I tried to do a search, I kept getting SQL Timeout errors, even when I limited the search. Probably just not doing something right. [:)]

Brimulk,

You may have found this link (http://www.3rdedition.org/merricb/miniresources.htm) on Merric's site to the Collectible Package Generator (CPG) that I wrote.

Although the tagline indicates it was last updated for Angelfire, the data files are complete through Wardrums[:)]. For more recent sets (not counting Wardrums with its odder case packing), you can even chooses to generate a whole case, with no duplicate rares, 4 of each common, 1 of each uncommon and 2 of half the uncommons.

Also, the CPG does use the actual distributions for all sets. People have been tracking this since Harbinger. This link from Merric http://www.3rdedition.org/merricb/minidistribution.htm gives the distribion for the first 7 sets, and the info from later sets is incorporated in the CPG.

Of course, I will update the CPG with data from WotDQ when the set is released, following the actual distribution in all its wonkiness.

By then, I should have the updated version of CPG hosted on www.ddmresources.com.

Thanks,

This is useful. I can not believe that I've never seen it before.

However, it looks like you're assuming no duplicate rares in a case... that means that the generator will not be accurate for earlier expansions (or War Drums, etc...) Do you have/need/want more information to fix that for case distributions?

Nor do I see the generation information for Harbinger entry/starter packs. Do you have the distriubtion for those packs?

I have a web-based booster generator that is current through Wardrums:

http://www.top10mexicanrestaurants.com/ddmsbg

I hadn't seen that link from Merric's site regarding the older distribution structures, so my generator does not reflect those exactly. It does, however, create usable random boosters with no duplicates for all sets.

In the next week or so, I'll try to update my generator to reflect the breakdown on Merric's page. I'll be updating with WotDQ data as soon as I receive my cases.

Thanks for that link, lynchpt.

I think I just did "case mode" for the sets where the normal distribution is perfect. For the rest of the sets, if someone where able to give the true distribution in some deteerminate fashion, I would try to implement a case mode. Also, I would love to do Harbinger Starters, but I was never able to figure out the distribution. I would love to know it if you have that info.

Thanks,

Pat Lynch
