Ahh, dice. The precursor to plasticrack. I don't even know how many dice I own as I have a few sets still at the folks' place.

I need more, though. I always need more.

In particular, I am ONE d4 away from completing a set of the "Aurora" pattern of speckled dice that Chessex did years ago. I only ever saw one, and it was gone the next time I was at that shop. [v]

I had to wait till I got home to count [:I]

I have 31 d20s in my box (which means that I have the other 6 from the sets these came in, in a different box [:)]) - so, adding in a few stray extras, I would have about 300 dice in total.

I only skirmish (someday, I'm sure I'll find time to Roleplay), and every week, I take along 3 d20s (different ones each time) which allows me to change dice if I need to during a night. On the few occaisions when I've forgotten to take fresh dice, and therefore play with the same dice 2 weeks in a row, my luck has been horrible.

I love nice looking dice (though I do also buy for readability now), and cause my FLGS doesn't have much choice, and end up buying several (or more) sets at a time over the internet when I have to buy new paint (which is also not available locally).

My favourite dice are Chessex Scarab (all the colours) - they are beautiful, and easy to read, and seem to roll 20s at just the right time [:)].

I am definitely in the "you can never have too many dice" camp. But I think I have you guys beat. I just placed an order for 200 customized dice to be given as favors at my wedding. Ah, a marriage of two gamer nerds, is there anything more beautiful and disturbing?

I have seven different d20's. Before each game I roll each one 3 times to see which one is sweet for the night and use it. I only have 3 sets of normal rpg dice.

Currently, I only buy dice if I really like the way they look. I bought a box of d6s because they looked all firey and stuff. Maybe a little too much like fire for this dragon fanatic! [}:)]

When I first started gaming, I was addicted to dice. I love gaming, so I have a natural addiction for the parnaphenalia associated with it. I wasn't even a DM at the time - just a player - but along with dice I had to buy all sorts of sourcebooks, either just to read for my own pleasure to give to the DM, thinking this module would be cool to run through or this book had some player-related stuff (classes, spells, etc.) that I'd like to try out, and things of that nature.

Then, when I started my first stint as DM, I quickly realized that players don't always have their own dice or sometimes forgot theirs while they were packing up to come to the game, so it helped to have extra dice on hand. Plus, before minis, I liked to use dice as stand-ins for monsters. And it made the bookkeeping easier, because all the dice were numbered and colored, so players could say, "I hit Blue 4 for 12 damage," and I knew exactly where to look on my sheet. So, as the battles got bigger, I had to buy more dice - at least, that's the excuse I used to justify it.

Plus, as any gamer will tell you, sometimes you just have an unlucky night with a particular die or set of dice, so you gotta have a second or third back-up for when you've drained all the mojo from your standard set.

These days I still have tons of dice but I only use three sets with any regularity, and I'm not about to spend money on dice when I could buy minis instead.

It's not a problem until you start selling minis to buy dice or run out of room to put them. [:)]

If I ever got that D4, I think I could quit with just a few more sets...I just have a couple to complete. Then I'll quit. I can quit any time, though. I just don't want to. [)]

I, uh, don't have a dice problem?

I've got one decent-sized bag(probably the same volume as a DDM booster) of dice, and that's it. I don't plan on getting more.

I have three sets of dice, but am eyeing a fourth and fifth. My dice are clear plastic (completely clear, great for making secret rolls right out in the open), blue clear plastic (the set I use most), and steel (mostly for show, have yet to find a surface to roll them on that they wouldn't damage and that wouldn't make too much noise).

The fourth and fifth sets I'm looking at are hematite and bright pewter.

I also have a gold-plated sterling silver necklace, but I can't roll that...

Just a bag for me. About a half-dozen of each type. More d6's of course, for dealing out massive damage to my players...

I'm considering buying a new d20 next time I enter a skirmish tournament, since all of the ones I have now are really afraid of this one guy I keep losing to...
