I have heard of a lto of people down there ripping off ebay stores and the liek and have been warned by several to not trade or sell to anyone from down there. Has anyone had any thing go right from anyone down there. I ask because I have someone who wants to purchase off me from down there and I am a little leary.

Completed trades (16):amator, zardnaar, caustic_mouse, crisisman, ckissee, gausse, agcooper1, talistran, robby, vrecknidj, gordonbloom, nyjustal69, nasamonkey, sulaco, stormhand and oryan77 with 1 more pending.

I sold a couple of hundred bucks worth of stuff to Flavio
a few months ago, maybe as many as 8 mo. and although shipping
was horrendous to Brazil (and not exactly quick) it was
nice that all went well.
Africa & Antarctica are the only continents I've not traded/sold
to as of yet.

Good Luck. As long as you get the money before you ship, it
tends to be a little easier, not to risky.

Never sold anything to anyone in South America, but I once got ripped off in a trade with someone from Brazil.

As you can see I´m from Brazil and I buy often my singles from Ebay. I never traded @ maxminis; only did it when i played Mechwarrior (@ MWRealms). I can give you only one advice: always ship to SA via airmail. Letter Post is pretty cheap, has a label customs number so you can track it and takes no more than 1 month. Never use ground mail, because it has no means to track and can take up to 6 months (yeah that much) to arrive (from my own experience).

I've done some eBay selling to South America in the past, although not much. I didn't have any problems though.

Usually it's buyer beware but in this case I might call seller beware. I wouldn't ban SA trades, just do your best first to make sure you're protected if you can.

Well, I' also from Brazil and I am pretty much used to buying on E-Bay - got all my DDM cases there, and quite a few singles. While there surely is kind of a bad reputation around Brazil for scamming and stuff, please do not make it a rule. The only time I got ripped off was from an American seller in E-Bay (never got that Beholder, and never even got a decent answer from the seller). As a Brazilian, I second Tgt's (which is a friend from our d20 minis forum) advice: always wait for payment before shipping, and never ever ship via surface mail. Actually, that should be a rule of thumb for every mini transaction! As long as you send the stuff and provide a tracking number, it will eventually get here within a month. Now good business to everyone!

PS - in case anyone is in doubt about selling to a particular individual in Brazil, feel free to contact me. If he is on our forum, I'll let you know his biz profile. Of course I will not share private info, but maybe I know the guy, or at least have some references!

I'm Brazillian as well and can support Tgt's and DK's replies.

I'd like to notice that the scam works both ways, just check my name under the disputed trades with CG in the past. Lost my Frost Giant and a couple other good rares that time around :(

As DK suggested, let us know who is it that you are dealing with, if he is a regular at our own forums we can provide feedback on his trading reputation.

Thanks for all the info you guys. I appreciate it. Hearign other sides of the story is always helpfull s I wanna try and help as many people in the community as possible. I always use airmal (sometimes global priority) when shipping over seas.

Well, as a Brazilian for sometime living in the US, I shipped a bunch of stuff down south. Never had any problems, always following the rules my fellow countrymen stated above.

And I quote them: Scamming works both ways, don't make it a rule.

Fell free to contact me also, if you have any questions.

Letter post is Airmail (Airmail Letter Post). It also doesn't give you any tracking information...you have to pay extra for that (In the U.S. anyway). The tracking info costs almost 3 times more than without, it's ridiculous. The post office can't track anything with just the customs form either.

I've shipped to Brazil about 4 or 5 times. There was only one package that had a problem and I think it was one that Flavio paid for. Somehow the Brazilian post office lost his package. I gave him all the shipping info I had for it but I don't think he ever located the package.

This is the problem when not paying for insurance or delivery confirmation numbers internationally. It's really expensive to pay for those extras, and a huge gamble when you don't. Especially to Brazil. Apperently Brazil has a huge problem with "losing" packages.
