There are even people who have no GoL frost giant... [:(]
Yup, moi aussi. No frost giant.
I didn't complain about them. In fact, I didn't read complains about them too. Ok, the only rider I don't like is the one on the dragon. But, that's just personal preference. I'm not saying it has to be that way because I don't like them. *shrug* | | Champion of Dragotha

| Well to look on the bright side of life, WoTC might be waiting to release the uncommon mounted soldier before doing any more humaniods on horse...[?]
It does seem looking at the WoDQ that ol' proverb of being careful for what you wish for in case you get it. People were saying mounted Minis. They got a good ratio of them in this set :)
I`ve really haven't seen much hate for the Tundra Scout I like it, and if I could, I'ld get a six pack of them too.
The griffon pose I`m gonna reserve judegment until I see what is the final product in the box. A lot depends on production paintjob, bend factor and all that drek.

| I have never wanted mounted minis. I do not play the skirmish game. Every mini I buy is used exclusively for RPG. I value my minis based on the likeliness of them being used in RPG.
How likely is it that I will ever need a frost giant on a wolly mammoth if I don't specifically design an encounter for one?
Not bloody likely. I don't want to design an encounter just so I can use a mini. That means I will have went out of my way to accomodate a mini I didn't want in the first place that will go back to being useless after I run this encounter I specifically designed for it.
That being said, the tundra scout looks pretty darn good. | | Thailfi's Have/Want List Thailfi's References

| I for one hope they do not do "generic PC/NPC on horse" minis. I have one (MP). Maybe do an archer, and a spellcaster. But after that, I want to see the fantastic. I think this could turn into the same problem I have with Dwarf Minis. Too little diversity makes it uninteresting. I love the Drow Mounted Patrol. And if they ever make an uncommon Frost Giant, then the Tundra Scout will see play at my table (assuming my group stops dying.)
I am not a fan of the Clawfoot, but only because I don't run Eberron. Do I want it removed from the set? No. Even though I hate it, and will trade away my all duplicates, I realize it is interesting to SOME portion of the target audience. If I had the choice to remove it, I wouldn't. It will help sales, which in turn will help DDM in general.
I know of at least 2 DM's who will be buying this set to get some of those. They do not play DDM, but they do run Eberron. This is a piece they want and will use. I'm assuming there are customers who may do the same for the Tundra scout. I know there are those who will for the Displacer Beast Packlord. I stand corrected. Even truer words (for me anyway) have rarely been said.
Halfling on Dino? Useless for RPG. Soldier mounted on horse? Highly useful for RPG.
I know getting a soldier mounted on a horse is not as flashy or glamorous as frosty on mammoth, or griffon rider ballet dancer but much more useful for us RPGer's.

Because only Chuck Norris could be cooler than a Pirate and a Ninja on a T-Rex!
And Chuck is too cool to actually make a mini of--Because just setting a Chuck Norris mini on the map would mean you win! His mini would kick the tar out of all the other minis on the table before the game even started.
Chuck Norris: Before this creature's first turn, roll a D20. On any result, you win. If you roll a one, you must kick your own ass afterwards as you are not worth the effort the Chuck Norris Miniature would spend kicking it for you (not that it would be much).

| I think the Mounted Frost Giant looks great. The sculpt is amazing and the paint job is beautiful. But there are so many other huges I would rather have that it just becomes a so-so piece for me. For the most part I pretty much love all of the mounted minis. I just wish they weren't so hard to get. I'm still waiting for a mounted good Dragon.

I'm already envisioning an adventure where my players are caught running in an open icy tundra (where else? [)]) and a group of pursuing frost giants led by 1-2 Tundra Scouts are charging at them from a great distance.
Yes, definitely inspired by the charging Mumakil vs. Legolas scene in Return of the King.

A lot of time my PCs seem to be mounted. Horse would probably be the most generic form of transport in my fantasy campaigns. So I wouldnt mind a range of PC types on horse.

| Well, I'm actually all for UNCOMMON mounted minis! I have plenty of player-character-type minis on foot, almost any race/class combination, or at least proxies for that, so bring on the mounted ones! I mean, the party I'm DMing for right now has: male human warrior, male elf ranger, female drow wizard, male elf paladin (yes, mostly newbies). I wanted a mounted mini for each of them! The griffon riding chick rocks, her stance is pretty aggressive, as I'd expect from a heavy-armor-wearing, sword-wielding woman on a flying, menacing creature! Tundra Scout is gonna freak them out as soon as I place it on the table, and the sorcerer dude? I'm getting the promo and the regular, no suger please! Actually, I'm thinking on starting a campaign: AT LEAST 5 mounted minis per set! There are so many I want: dragon-riding knight/paladin, druid on dire tiger, uncommon worg rider, and plenty of people on horses: rangers, sorcerers, rogues (not joking), any class and all the races! How about a spider riding drow? Mounted minis rule, please keep them coming! | | "I know exactly what I'm doing" - famous last words.

| I also like the Tundra Scout alot- ditto for most of the other mounted minis. The Sorceror on teh Black Dragon however represents a missed opportunity. It could have been one of hree things which would have been better appreciated.
1. Some Dragonlance mini mounted on a dragon: would shut the Dragonlance faction up and give us a far mroe interesting mounted warrior on a mini in my opinion
2. Githyanki Sorceror on Red Dragon: less complaints since we already have a unmounted Red Dragon Huge- and would get another Githyanki
3. Goblin Ranger on Black Dragon (medium): This would be useful in Red Hand of Doom as well as open a Huge slot AND show the Snig haters that medium mounted Goblins could be made. | | Champion of the Shield Guardian (vindicated)

| | I personally like the tundra scout model and all of the mounted minis in this set. I'm not saying that there perfect or that there aren't other minis I'd have rather seen but they are all acceptable. My only complaint is the pose of the griffon rider. If she had been sitting properly on that griffon I think it could have been T5he (non-huge) chase rare of the set. As is she looks a bit silly. Still love the pose of the griffon. | | | |

The funny thing is that if she had been sitting "properly" on the griffon (as in 90º perpendicular to the back) it would have looked silly cos she'd be about to fall off the damned thing.
I showed the DQ poster to a mate of mine on the weekend and the first figure he singled out as incredibly cool looking was the griffon rider…and he hates both griffons and elves. He loves the pose on it.

| | I have no love for Mammoths myself and only kind of like the Frost Giant as my favourite "core" Giant, if you will. If WotC puts the two together, not a heck of a lot can be done other than trading for them if you want them and getting rid of them if you don't like them. Whatever floats your boat, really. I don't know if I like it but I will admit that although I know that for myself, personally, I must wait for the miniature to be witnessed by my own eyes instead of relying on photos, I also know that the warband skirmish stats are very tempting and could turn the tide, justifying a potential dislike I might have for a paint job of which may not suit my preferences. If in-hand, it looks good and plays good, then fine. I'll keep it and maybe get another. Although admittedly, I would have been far happier with a Death Giant or a Geriviar(spelling?) but too bad for me so I can cry myself a river for all I care(In case you are wondering, yes, I am being sarcastic towards myself and have no sympathy for my preferences not manifesting themselves into physical formations of plastic. Think of Hermes from Futurama. One of the episodes give more insight to how I'm thinking.) so I have to get over it as well as anyone else who would have liked to see something different and has the supposed "Mammoth hate". Anywhoooooo, I think that's the end of my rant as I've filled my quota today with mostly verbal arguments, so yeah..........that's life and if you don't like it, don't involve yourself in this.
