| | As this is my first Gen Con, I was just wondering if the layout or a park near is conducive to playing a game of basketball or other "athletic" events. Does everyone in stay "in" the Con the whole time (not just the vast majority) when not eating and sleeping, or are there non-gaming related things in the immediate vicinity? I guess I was thinking maybe for the lunch break for the Grinder, as an example, there would be some place to burn off some extra adrenalin. | | Champion of Prit(Wemic vindication is here) Minneapolis/St. Paul area Completed trades: Aspect of Cheese (Love that moniker), Tickparasite, Elderthing, Lalato, Sodj, Grimoire, SmilinIrish, Zeb, RWarehall,Link, wikkawikkawa, Auramancer, Rommers, HK, Ivid5,Qillan_dvra, Puggins, Arcabius, Ironfist Boulderbender, Robby, Corim Danex, monster_slayer, DNDJUNKIE, Kelemvor, Krush, ckissee, Massawyrm, hockey fan, Wish, Uninspiring Lieutenant, vtloon x2, Vrecknidj, Darthpoke, WakeXX, AnarionZell, lycusmike, papabear5 and umpteen local trades with board members

hrm, well there is a park across the street, but I don't think there is a court of any kind. You'd be hard pressed to get out and do somethiing during the grindre though. last year the break was only about 45 minutes. So unless you wrap up your match in 30, and they tell you that the break is next (which they only do sometimes...), you'd be hard pressed.
Some of the hotel's obviously have pool's, that's a great way to get some exercise, but again, not during the middle of a tourney.

| Usually, I don't have any time, during the gaming day, for non-Con activities. But, as far as exercise goes, I do a tremendous amount of walking at GenCon, and my legs are usually sore each day. So, I get a workout even if I don't have a chance to do much else (but I usually do take a few laps in the hotel's pool in the evening).
It is possible to get in some other non-Con events though. There is, for example, and IMAX theater in Indy.

Well the nice thing about Hall D where the minis are this year is that the semi food court in the convention center is very close. So even with a short break we can get food. Plus the Hall itself has food service.

Well there is the very important drinking out of con activity. In no particular order, Ram, the other brew pub across the street, Hooters, the Irish Bar, the bar in the hotel across the street from exhibit hall, the cigar bar down the other way, the street of loud bars and of course the strip club a couple of blocks away. | | | |
