| Well, I could've posted this on the "Events" section, but I wanted this to be more like a "General News" kinda post. Sorry if I'm wrong!
This weekend (July 1st and 2nd), the 1st Brazilian National Championship will be played in Sao Paulo. Players from all around the country are attending this event, which should be the biggest so far down here. 64 players (most of them top-notch, one must say) are expected to show.
It will be placed on the biggest gaming convention in South America (Encontro Internacional de RPG), held by Devir, organized by three of the community's best members, and even supported by Wizards of the Coast.(special thanks to Ian Richards on this one!)
Just like the late Qualifier events, there's a huge expectation around those nasty LG builds, the CG will try to re-take it's ground, LE will show the biggest barriers and the CE will fight to death! So let's see what Lady Luck will bring us! We try to put up a report on Monday!
PS: Wish me luck! ;) | | - Vindicated Night Below Called Shot: Darkmantle - Desert of Desolation Called Shot: Merchant - Champion of the Nymph

Tell her you want to give her a nice weekend on a beautiful beach! DON'T tell her you'll be stuck with a bunch of dorks playing with plastic dolls during that same period. | Well, the 1st Brazilian National is over, and i have to say that i was a complete sucess! We got 55 (or 54, don't rememember much) players, most of them really experienced, and about half-a-dozen of newbies. Even with the soccer game (damn zidane, damn Parreira, stupid coach u.ú), everybody was thrilled to play in such a huge event.
The first Brazlian DDM Champion is Rafael "Paladine" Cardoso, a good friend of mine, and he went LG with Kord + Couatl + CODA +WF Bodyguard. Btw, I had basically the same warband and went really well too! 5-0 in the first day, but lost the first game on the next day.

| Alright, alright! So everyone is busy reading all the "WDQ ROCKS" threads, but I'll post about our National championship!
We had 54 players (less than expected, but a VERY good number nonetheless), and the tournament was played in two days - day #1 had 5 rounds and best 16 players qualified for day #2.
Congratz to the champion: Rafael Cardoso Sampaio a.k.a Paladine
Here's top 4 (by nicknames) and warbands: 1) Paladine (Kord, CoDA, Coualt, WFBodyguard) 2) Warlord (Kord, FB, Rikka, Warchanter) 3) Stalker (Marut, Coualt, Arcane Ballista, CoO) 4) Conan (Rakshassa, Duergar Champion x2, HH, Chraal)
More info (in portuguese) at: http://www.d20minis.com[/url]
Thanks for all the international support: Ian Richards, Alepulp, DC area guys, and many others!
Hope to see you here next year! | | - Vindicated Night Below Called Shot: Darkmantle - Desert of Desolation Called Shot: Merchant - Champion of the Nymph

| I played... got stinkin' 21st place. Prize support was provided by Devir:
1st - 8 Boosters; 2nd - 6 Boosters; 3rd and 4th - 4 Boosters; 5th to 8th - 2 Boosters; 9th to 16th - 1 Booster.
Also, Ian sent a bunch of promo figs and epic cards (600 according to what he said to me on the phone), but something happened and nobody even saw the stuff... Still want to know what happened exactly. Sounds weird.

Those who have tried to organise and play will sympathise. My own experience is that when I've been heavily involved in the planning, booking etc. etc. of a tournament is that my results from playing are bad (except the UK Challenge Cup). | | One of these days WoTC will update their tournament page when I'm in the top 5... they never seem to do when I'm in that bracket :( My Collection My DDM Website And My Trade Refs Be a part of the UK DDM Forum

| | How's been the tournment support? I remember when I used to play in Sao Paulo that the support from Devir is very, very VERY poor. | | You know when you are playing too much DDM when you read the Art of War and start wondering how that applies to DDM... | |
