| I'm pretty impressed by the overall paint and sculpt quality in this set.
As an example-I know a lot of people bagged on the Griffon Cavalry. Heck, even I wasn't all that taken with the photos. I have to say that once I saw it (I pulled one) it grew on me. It's very nicely detailed and the scult (other than being really unbalaced, which I'll fix shortly) is quite striking.
Am I alone on this one, what are your thoughts? | | Better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you're not My Have/Want list Trades pending with: Competed trades (11) ares71,pagansexy,bradu,Unearthed Arcana, Garate,Arbados dobblegog, blackthorne,aussie_jim, spikegif, Lady Bast

| IMO probably the best set to date for sculpt and painting. [^]
(although there are a few MEH in the set)
I especially like the use of clear plastic for a number of the figures, it makes some of them look that much better.

At least Tuesday is a holiday. That will help pass the time until my cases arrive. | Of the two Griffin Riders that showed up at our pre-release, one seemed pretty well-balanced (and kicked some buttski) and one had a bent base. I, of course, got neither...

I believe Shoe confirmed it didn't have any clear plastic in it. I believe there were 5 from this set, but I don't remember where I heard that. We have the two fire elementals, the Storm Archer, the Nightmare, and the stirge. edit: I forgot the Magma Hurler, and there was speculation that the tavern brawler had clear plastic in his mug, though I doubt it. | | Completed trades: Gausse, Mazra, Pagansexy, Galerians, Lord_Raven, Drakkengi, Temujinn x2, Random Sasquatch, elf_ranger, Azuretide, Hung4treason, Griffrat (face2face), Nasamonkey Carpe Forum!

Jim's right - we always have a good turnout for our Midnight Releases. Not only do we get to open lots of minis, there is always a flurry of trading (especially between the skirmishers and RPGers - this is one of the few times both groups are in the same room talking about minis), the store supplies cool raffle prizes (and has been giving out extra tickets for the raffles at our last few tournaments) and the MRs always help build our growing minis community.
So what if I only get 4 hours of sleep once every few months? Heck, this Friday I'm flying with my six year old daughter out to California, and will be on little sleep for that trip (ever flown with a 6 year old? ugh) - but it will be worth it.

Astronomy and Physics.
On topic, I do seriously encourage all of you to ask your FLGS about hosting a Midnight Release. It's a lot of fun, generates a fair amount of interest, and makes a lot of cha-ching, incidentally.
