| | There are repaints done by Wizards, handed out as promos. There are also repaints done by normal people for the heck of it. | | Owner of The Original Rust Monsters! | Repaint - a figure, usually promotional, using the same sculpt as another piece in a set, painted using a different color scheme. Example: the red Huge Fiendish Spider. Unofficial repaints painted by talented minis painters are also possible.
Reprint - A figure with the same sculpt as a mini from a previous set. Example: the Medium Black Dragon, originally a Dragoneye rare, reprinted in the D&D Basic Game.
Resculpt - A figure with the same statcard as a mini from a previous set, but a different sculpt. Example: the Werewolf from Giants of Legend, which has identical stats but a different sculpt from the Werewolf in Harbinger. | | Champion of the Aboleth, Prophet of Denizens. And where does that put my repai---err, my minis to which I have applied alternate color schemes? Refuse? [)] All these "re" words are giving me a headache!
Repaints are normally considered to be the miniatures from kits and promotional pieces (from conventions, signings, etc.) that feature alternate paint schemes. Then you have me, and people far more skilled than I (Runelord151, smithmeg, zenthrus and Temperance just off the top of my head) who sometimes "enhance" minis for fun and profit.
Our works are considered (rightfully so) unofficial. Official Repaints are the ones done by Wizards...Someone just did a webpage to help identify some of the repaints. I can't remember who did off the top of my head, but if you scroll through the first few pages of topics, you will probably be able to find it.

| Official lingo on the site to make things clear is that REPAINTS are done by WotC that are usually promotional peices. The Red Fiendish Spider and the White Weretiger are examples. Minis that are repainted by fans are one of a kind peices and shoudl be referred to as CUSTOMS to avoid confusion.
Resculpts are either direct resculpts like the Werewolf and the Zombie. But a resculpt is also when the same creature is re-released with a slightly different name and stats but is still the same creature. Ogre Skirmisher, Troll Slasher, Terror Wight and Loyal Earth Elemental are good examples.
