is the witchknife the most expensive common in the game? If so do you think this is trend-setting or something that will happen infrequently.

just curious

I don't think so. I am selling most commons for $0.30 each... and I have the witchknife set for $0.25 each.

Fun little game...

I think he may be talking about points-wise. It's 33, correct?

yeah I should have been more clear sorry.

I did mean point-wise in the skirmish game.

It's a creature from MM3 (I think) that was released as a mini in WotDQ.

As for how high it's priced, I think it works fine. I used it in a poison warband the other night (HFSx2, yuan-ti sorcerer), and its ability to stun all creatures of a certain type worked very strongly to my advantage (my friend played an all-dwarf warband, with AoM and such).

33 points is a lot for a common, but it's a strong common and definitely worth the points.

To answer your question, I don't know if it'll become a trend or not, but the occasional "expensive" common isn't so bad.

It's not much more than the Cultist at 29 pts.

The Large Monstrous Spider was 11 pts, the cheapest for a Rare IIRC. If we can have cheap Rares, why not expensive Commons?

I think that with smaller warbands these days, we'll be seeing slightly more expensive filler pieces as Commons, but I doubt we'll see things like the Witchknife with any frequency.

Well, considering that witchknives are universally hated, I should think not! :)

It may be pricey, but in packs it may be doom for archmage bands.

I think one thing we're seeing is the evolution of moving away from a consistent correlation between point cost and rarity. The last few sets have had more outliers, and in general, I think thats a good thing.

Kinda too bad they couldn't have flipped the rarities of the Witchknife and Stirge, though. [:)]
