The discussions regarding proxies and wanning interest in collecting ddm got me thinking.

What doesn't have a good proxy that DMs are clammoring for? I'll try to narrow it down by saying, if it has a GOOD proxy it doesn't count. Trolls, don't count. A Sphinx does.

Aboleth
Arrowhawk (which a stirge can proxy for if small)
Athach
Beetles
Centipedes
Cloaker
Cockatrice
Cyclops
Dark Mantle
Darkenbeast
Demons/Devils
Dogs/Blink Dogs
Dragon Turtle
Dryad
Familiars (cat, raven, owl, hawk, toad, snake)
Gelatinous Cubes
Giant Eagle
Giant Owl
Gorgon
Hag (Large)
Hippogriff
Hydra
Large Water Elemental
Mephits
Mimic
Octopus/Squid
Peryton
Pixie
Pseudodragon
Raistlin
Rhemorhaz
Rust Monsters
Shadows
Sphinx
Tojanida

What keeps you buying ddm?

Mephits are top of the list..Dragonwroght Kobolds can proxy but thats really lame.

Centipedes have no proxy...I used Fiendish Dire Weasels as Medium Monsterous Centipedes once (think about it..It works).

Tenticled creatures really need a mini. There are no good proxies for Octopus or Squid monsters when they are crawling about on land.

My party will be fighting a Belker soon...I can find no decent proxy for that.

There are plenty of things left to do. Here's just a few that many RPGers would like to see:

Pixie
Cockatrice
Rust Monster
G-cube
Shadow
Cloaker
Darkmantle
Aboleth
Hydra
Atatch
Dryad
Rehemoraz
Huge, Large, Medium, Tiny White Dragon
Huge, Large, Tiny Black Dragon
Huge, Medium, Small Blue Dragon
Huge, Small, Tiny Green Dragon
Ditto for the missing good dragons, etc...
Centipedes of various sizes
Beetles of various kinds
Blink Dog
Memphit
Homonculous
Psuedodragon
HAGS!
Hippogriff
Angels (ok, we have proxies here)
Nalfeshnee
Dinosaurs
Chaos Beast
Bodak
Mohrg
Mimic
Phantom Fungus
More swarms
Gorgon
Arrowhawk
Devourer
Digester
Grey Ooze
Black Pudding
Shocker Lizard
Skum

And I could keep going... That's only MMI creature as well. Combine that with some judicious resculpted figures (with new skirmish stats of course) and they'll be able to keep things going for a long time.

Gfreat list LM! There are ALOT of stuff in it that needs a mini. I hate proxies and want minis of everything..But some of your list are definitly proxyable:
Dragons other than tiny can use dragons of the same size.
Wolves and Harbinger Hyenas make good Blink Dog
A Quasit can sub for a Homonculous
The Nighthag can proxy as a medium hag
Griffons and Hippogriffs
Angels (ok, we have proxies here)
A Gibbering Mouther can be a Chaos Beast
Harbinger Ghouls as Bodaks

Other than that your list gets an A+

Well, I'll definitely be buying Blood War, but my twins will be born after that so most of my time and money will be going to their comfort instead of my wants. Any sets after Blood War would have to have ALOT of figures in them that have no good proxies or I'll just be buying those figures I need. No more cases and set completion I guess. [:(] (Actually, after the set distribution debacle in WotDQ, that might not be such a bad thing.)

One of my players last night mentioned that a Carrion Crawler would be a good proxy for a Large Centipede. And of course I'm collecting so many Purple Worms for the express purpose of proxying for Huge Fiendish Centipedes (Summon Monster V, baby!).

Hags. Oh sweet Jeebus yes, we need Hags. I'm pretty amazed that we don't have at least one large Hag by now.

But I must say I'm almost to the point where singles on eBay might be more cost-efficient than cases. Blood War might put me at that point. I mean geez, I must have over 50 orcs of various kinds.

I think there are plenty of RPG based creatures that we could use still. I was telling my wife after WDQ that I might start buying a complete set on eBay and just trading for extras I might want within a new set. I keep paring down my collection to where I've got 2 of all the commons and uncommons...but really, how many freakin' orcs, goblins, kobolds, etc. do I really need? I'm not into enormous battles, so I'll never need upteen Ogres. So many Ogres.

Eh, my interest in DDM is beginning to wane a bit, but I'm not about to drop it for another system or set of figs. I think I may have the Dreamblade Blues or something?

Aside from all those mentioned, I'd like to see (though I highly doubt this one) an uncommon Beholder to allow for people who didn't get it first time round. I'm sure there must be another Beholder-type large thing somewhere that they can use...

IMO a few of your entires have good proxies:

Dogs/Blink Dogs = wolf, timber wolf, hyena
Large Water Elemental = large air elemental
Sphinx = golden protector

Champion of the Gelatinous Cube. Nemesis of Gnomes and Dinosaurs.

Over the centuries, mankind has tried many ways of combating the forces of evil... prayer, fasting, good works and so on. Up until Doom, no one seemed to have thought about the double-barrel shotgun. ~ Terry Pratchett

I'm playing a Druid in the RPG right now, and I always use miniatures for my Nature's Allies. I'm good for most animals and medium/large elementals. I'm using a Chraals as Large Water Elementals, but I never summon Water Elementals.

I'm having problems with the Huge Elementals:
I had a Nightwalker re-sculpted and painted as a Huge Fire Elmental, which of course has been replaced as an official WotDQ HFE
I'm using a SWM Rancor as a Huge Earth Elemental - I think that it is the closest match, but it's massive and obscures the view of the map
I have nothing for Huge Air Elementals, and I've resorting to putting Large Elementals on cut-outs of Huge bases.

Summary: a Huge Earth Elemental and Huge Air Elemental would have been amazing for my RPG use

Yeh, but they're not really GOOD proxies.

A dog has a different look/physical structure from a hyena or wolf.

Water vs Air (soft round edges vs tearing edges).

Golden Protector as a sphinx is alright. Dragon wings vs bird wings really, and that tail. But as an RPGer, I'm looking forward to a Sphinx.

Hmmm, Medium Air Elementals are good enough as Belker proxies.

In fact, I've never used the medium air elemental as a medium air elemental. I've only used them as Belkers and Orglashes (from Unapproachable East).

Depending on what comes out in Blood Wars, more demons and devils. IMHO proxies are nice but to be able to turn the card over and get the stats, saves time looking in the manuals.

One thing is for sure. Well over half of the core RPG creatures have now been made. It will be interesting to see how the developers keep the primary RPG'ers interested. I suspect it will be done with variations of core creatures such as the Oge War Hulk and Hill Giant Barbarian.

What? A wolf for a proxy of a Blink Dog????

Why not just snub off the tail of the Hunting Cougar? or squish one of the extra orcs you have down onto all fours and paint it yellow?

No Sir! I think not! There shall be no rest until a propper Blink Dog is enshrined in plastic for eternity. May it be played with giddy abandon by adolescent minded adults on the four courners of the globe.

Well technically globes don't have corners, so I'll settle for my basement table.[:D]

Lab Monky, I'd love to see almost everything on your list as a DDM mini (except the black pudding, that seems like a waste of a mini). However, for some things on your list we do have decent proxies we can use in a pinch:

Pixie - thorn
Cockatrice - no proxy
Rust Monster - no proxy
G-cube - no proxy
Shadow - Harbinger wraith
Cloaker - no proxy
Darkmantle - no proxy
Aboleth - no proxy
Hydra - no proxy (Tiamat has been mentioned but I strongly disagree)
Athach - no proxy (but I really don't like it, so ok by me)
Dryad - woodling archer (or whatever that mini was called)
Remorhaz - no proxy
Huge, Large, Medium, Tiny White Dragon - no proxy (zombie one maybe)
Huge, Large, Tiny Black Dragon - no proxy
Huge, Medium, Small Blue Dragon - no proxy
Huge, Small, Tiny Green Dragon - no proxy
Centipedes of various sizes - no proxy
Beetles of various kinds - ankheg for large beetles
Blink Dog - Harbinger hyena or wolf
Memphit - magmin for fire or lava mephits
Homonculous - quasit
Psuedodragon - no proxy
HAGS! - nighhag for medium hags
Hippogriff - griffon, maybe, but no good proxy
Nalfeshnee - no proxy
Dinosaurs - plenty of toy dinosaurs (glue round black plastic base)
Chaos Beast - gibbering mouther
Bodak - ghoul
Mohrg - no proxy
Mimic - any dungeon furnishings
Phantom Fungus - myconid warrior?
More swarms - spider swarm?
Gorgon - no proxy
Arrowhawk - no proxy
Devourer - no proxy
Digester - no proxy, but not really looking forward to this one
Grey Ooze - ochre jelly, painted grey
Black Pudding - black stone or black plastic bag or lump of clay?
Shocker Lizard - those little green lizards from Harbinger
Skum - sahuagin ranger

For those with access to stockpiles of Mage Knight, Shades make fairly good D&D Shadows once you rebase them.

Technically, a Boneclaw could be proxied as a Large Hag, since they're sort of the same creature. [)]
