| For those of you who don't want to send packages priority mail (or if you don't have access to it), there are plenty of online businesses which sell cardboard boxes fairly cheaply if you are buying 20(ish) of them. I did this a while back, and it has worked quite well for me. | | The man who thinks he can, and the man who thinks he can't are both right. Which one are you? | |

The problem is that I shouldn't have to do that. The mini should have arrived in its intended position/shape. I care enough to ensure that for people I trade with; I expect the same from them.

The potential problem is this: that same $1.95 package you send to Canada would cost about $4 to send from Canada to the US, and about $10 to send within Canada. Yes, Canada Post really is that fracking greedy. | | Champion of the Gelatinous Cube. Nemesis of Gnomes and Dinosaurs.

Then you need to look harder.
The problem is not bent miniatures, it is miniatures that are damaged cos of poor shipping practices. Just cos the damaged can be fixed (in this case) does not eliminate the problem. | | Champion of the Gelatinous Cube. Nemesis of Gnomes and Dinosaurs.

| | I have a trade right now that includes sending in the original booster. It's a trade involving the Tundra Scout, and the minis that came with it in the booster. After getting it all packed up, I'm wondering if it will be strong enough to withstand the journey. The inserts are still in place; it's basically just taking a booster bought from the store, and wrapping it up in brown grocery bag paper. I'm wondering if this is such a good idea with the huge mini involved. | | Completed Trades: Cha0tic g0od x2,IHawk x6,demagogue x5,jcnorris00,Sammael x3,Diomedes x3,Pan,Phoenix,samstephenson500,sage_raistlin,jai,simage,Lab Monkey x4,bugsy,Vulturedoodle,T-Bone,niolo,GreyOne,Kunimatyu,Mullins,ShivanWurm,berus316,Thenameless x4,Tysac,ksuvampire,Mama Cass,Metz,Zim x2,brucemc,Krush x5,Venport,RedneckDM,nycfarmkid,Corim Danex,Chad the DragonLordofAiur x2,Puggins,Izeya82 x2,Oryan77 x3,Zenako,Wayne,Vocenoctum1,Drakkengi,Username x2,lyus_sleyden,Cyberia,Star x2,xuthal x3,Qucalion of Celene x8,sam500 x2,Blob39,Keoki x2,hazel monday x3,emontedodger,Dargoth,Wraithborne,Anothermullen,Vrecknidj x4,Ghendar,Gunthar,shoesan,beurice,ckissee,kyrin,Khellrendros,GuJiaXian,Wolfgang,True_Blue,md3,stephengroy(MMT08),Teflon Jeff,GuJiaXian(MMT08),aries71,Count Dooku,Kat_Dawg33,oldben,TheChuck,hung4treason,relientKittenx2I I I I I I I I I I 0 I I I I I I I I I I Pending:

| | I got some minis one time from a guy who was really desperate not to use a box. They were packed in a padded envelope, but were about as safe as any I've ever gotten. First he took two minis and placed them overlapping, with the bases on opposite ends. Wrapped in cotton gauze then with a strip of corrugated cardboard. Finally with a layer of tape, and placed in a small plastic bag. You ended up with a little cylinder about an inch in diameter and and 1.5" high that was highly squish resistant. For all that effort though, I have to wonder why not just get a box? (And this would really only work for unbagged, mostly humanoid minis that don't overhang the base too much.) | | | |

| | I only trade on the WotC boards (dodges rocks thrown) but I insist in my personal rules of trading that we will both ship in a box, with DC, and will go to good lenghts to ensure that the contents are protected. That said, there are some great traders out there. One dude sent me a Chimera back when WD was new and the base was warped to heck...I was pissed but didn't get mad...I simply posted that the figure was in terrible condition when I received. They saw my comment and immediately purchased one on eBay and had it shipped to me. That was great, needless to say I shipped him his original back. | | | |

| Card boxes are incredibly cheap as well, and make for perfect trading vessels (non-huge of course...). I think you can get 5 for a $1.00 at some stores... No excuse.

| yeah pat. thats what i use too cheap 100 - 200 count boxes are very inexpensive and hold up well. also recycling helps to. if you buy three boxes and then make three trades and your parteners use boxes you get three boxes back. if in good shape reuse.
my first or second trade i made the no no of sending in an envolope. did not see the harm in it. my trade partener explained about fragile minis. never used envolopes since. | | MY H/W LIST: http://www.maxminis.com/hwlist.asp?user=DNDJUNKIE HERE IS MY NEW TRADE REF LIST : http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13587

Thanks! I'm one of those "recycle the booster" shippers so I try to make sure I tape it up really well & pack it solid so it reduces crushing. I always worry about a booster arriving damaged but no one has complained.
I figure spending extra money on some good cardboard boxes will save me some packing time & reduce the chances of the box/minis being damaged. I think I got a good deal on some sturdy shipping boxes. Now I don't have to worry about them being crushed like the boosters.

eBay probably just send the information to the post office, since they will send you priority boxes for free as well (with many other things, like custom forms, various boxes, etc.

US$8.10. You could always [checks to see if the postmaster is watching] order the boxes (free) and turn them inside out. Actually, the postal workers catch this. They recognize the size of the box and the inside of the boxes have imprints I think. Even if you wrapped it up, they'd still recognize the size.
A guy infront of me once tried doing this. When it was my turn, the postal woman started snickering about it. I asked what they do when they notice someone using a priority box inside out and she said they charge them for the box plus an extra fee. This was a year ago so I don't remember the details.
