| Apologies if this topic has already been discussed. As the "search" function doesn't seem to be working, and a cursory visual search of the forums didn't reveal anything similar, I thought I'd post instead.
Why are the Dragon Queen "large" minis slightly larger than previous "large" minis? I had a suspicion that they were, which I then confirmed by just comparing the bases of two larges, one DQ, one other. Is this something that WotC has given any official reason for, or is it just an oddity of Dragon Queen?

| The base size for Large miniatures has been increased from 40mm to 48mm. We had observed significant examples of play where people were confused about which spaces a Large miniature occupied - and in some cases two large minis were placed so that they both occupied the same square, without the players even recognizing the issue (in both RPG and skirmish play).
Increasing the base size allows the minis to more clearly fill the square, and 48mm is much closer to double the 25mm size for Medium minis. | | Professional Fan of DDM

Thanks for the response! Good to know, and I agree that the new large size fits better in the 2x2 square box.

You can...Tiny creatures are 4 to a square. Granted all tinys other than the flameskull suffer from serious base-overhang, so fitting 4 in one square can be tough..but it is allowed.
Unless only one can occupy a square in skirmish and thats what you mean (Im clueless about skirmish). | | Champion of the Skulk Vindicated Champion of the Twig Blight
