| All right, I might as well spill it since it's spoiled. NDA be hanged! The Umber Hulk Booster is going to be a large common in Unhallowed, as well as the premier critter in the upcoming Monster Manual V.
The story is that the Neogi especially bred Umber Hulks with extra long arms (15' reach!). Y'see, Neogi are short and stumpy, but the clumsy Umber Hulks could not be counted on to retrieve delicate objects off of high shelves because, let's face it, Hulks are not renowned for their dexterity. So the Neogi created Umber Hulk "Boosters" to lift them (the Neogi) up to get stuff off high shelves. This has, of course resulted in more dropped Neogi, but what the hey, the little spuds bounce.
The Neogi have a pact with black dragons (they were jealous of the Githyanki and their pact with the reds -- rumor has it that the Mind Flayers and the Grell are furiously negotiating with Tiamat about the blue dragons) and so black dragons occasionally use the Umber Hulk Boosters as mounts.
So there you have it. I'm sure we'll get Shoefirmation + Lidda using her Evasion ability in subsequent posts. I just wanted to be the first to spill, to keep maxminis informed.

You're looking in the wrong place. If you look at the title to this thread (http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=23898) it fairly clearly says that the Black Dragon *is* the rider. | |

| What about all the miniatures on our H/W lists? Can lists be both mounted and mount other creatures? I'm seeing Dracolich riding lots of H/W lists all over maxminis. What is a H/W list? Hardly Weatherproof?

| DAMN, I always wanted a KNIGHT mounted on a booster, not a stupid black dragon... I reduced my order to only 6 cases and I wanted to order 6 and a half!!! One more dissapointment* and I may stop buying them at all and just buy what I want on e-bay! And what will you do then, WotC?!

You might think it's lame, but I have to respectfully disagree. Sure, those paisley-background leaked images make the sculpt look kinda off, but I think the Wierdest Thread Fungus is an awesome RPG piece. Granted, I would have rather gotten an untemplated version first, but the Wierdest template makes sense - I mean, how else could a Thread Evar and a Shrieker mate?
On the other hand, I do think CR 2,251 is a little high. My 2,197th level Bard can totally take down two of those no sweat (if you're interested, I posted my totally broken build over on the Wizards boards). | |
