| I would like a mounted soldier, but think that is unlikley. Consider us lucky enough for an uncommon mounted human.
It would have to be a simple mould, with basic paint jod so it 'qualifies' as a common.

True. Not sure if it would be needed as an common though?

Water or Fire elemental would be excellent, but considering that Small Fire Elemental was uncommon, we can think that clear plastic isn't that cheap to use.
There should be a point for it to be common. I believe that a mounted fig could be done with such a simple sculpt that it could be common - it might not be the best possible sculpt but it's possible. Griffon rider showed us that WotC has lots of creativity. Think of the soldier with his mount galloping in high undergrowth... there would be no need to place empty space under the horse if that would be the problem. | | Vindicated AtG Called shot: 2nd Huge Red Dragon My collected trade reference links Star Wars tactical combat -project My modelling/terrain pages Suomen miniatyyrikeräilijät / Miniature collectors of Finland

I agree with Sean-Khan that clear/transluscent plastic seems unlikely for a common, but a Giant Owl would be excellent.
I also think the Mezzoloth is the most likely. I can't see WotC putting out any of the large MM1 outsiders as commons, for example. | | Champion of the Bodak.Knight of the Aboleth.Squire of Gnomes. | In the tradition of commons, we have to think of something that D&D players and DMs really, really do not want tons of (Deathlocks, Giant Frogs, Gricks, etc.).
So, given that, I'd say we have to rule out things like Large-sized insects or animals that might get used in a lot of low-level adventures--entirely too useful. Probably a creature that's only found on the planes, or maybe something that's been templated in a way that few folks actually have ever used.
Now, what would I like? Another spider, other vermin might do, or some animals would be okay too.

| If we're already getting Mezzoloth why would we want it 'messed up' by being mis-sized and taking up the large common slot?
It could be a regular common (but more likely an uncommon and possibly a rare).
I honestly can of anything that would work as a common sculpt that I'd actually want common numbers of. Anything mounted is too complicated and the ogres/trolls already have a good assortment.
Edit: maybe a celestial bison but that seems borderline for a one piece sculpt. | | Called Shot: Against the Giants -- Aboleth Called Shot: Demonweb - Large Whip Spider Another Champion of the Aboleth

| Things I'd enjoy that *could* be done as a single piece sculpt, although the quality would suffer...
Skeletal Giant. Horse. Brown Bear. Elementals (rememeber: they were probably conservative using clear plastic the first time around... they may be able to do it in commons in future sets). Insects (spider, centipede). Ogre Soldier. Various Animated Objects.
Pipedreams that would be too difficult/powerful, but I'd love to see as commons:

| | A gray ooze or violet slime would be good. Anything that would look ok with a single color and a wash. Look at the large common they've made to date. The yuzzum. 2 colors, simple sculpt. | I've been having a hard time even thinking of anything (one of the reasons I posted the thread)
An Ogre with a club would be useful.
A spider would (mostly) be useful (they are generally solitary, after all)
A centipede is not useful enough to be something I have eight of.
A Frost Giant would be cool, but I'm not holding my breath.
A Dire Wolf would probably be the best -- I can totally see having a pack of 8 or so.
With regards to the set's theme, I got nothing -- maybe Large Commons won't show up for a little while yet. It's a lot easier to imagine an Ogre Skeleton than it is to figure what Large fiend would be remotely useful as a Large Common. | | Champion of the Aboleth, Prophet of Denizens. Would'nt a large beetle be large? Do you mean a Giant Beetle?
I don't hate Rothe, I just don't want 12+ of em.
Giants would be cool-ish. Still 12+ large giants... they'd have to do all of the main ones; hill, frost, fire, stone - that'd be overkill as well IMO.
Hey, what about a large treant? Do they even exist? That'd be cool for a common, cause it could double as terrain.
