Anyone ever built a dungeon using molds from Hirst Arts? I thinking of getting a few mold sets from them to build my dungeon but it will be costly. Would like to know its playability for DDM games.

Yeah, I have used them and have a thread here:

http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=22607

Warning it contains spoilers for the RHoD.

As far as games go with the HA stuff. They are great, add a real 3d feel and show reasons why there is cover and concealment and rules for heavy undergrowth etc....I love them But I am biased

griffrat, thanks for the link. I should have searched around a bit more before starting this thread[:I]

Your work looks pretty organized from the pics! I shall post further questions over in your thread.

Thanks again.

I've never used HA but they've been great inspiration for me. About terrains with DDM game, there's some problems (how to do smoke or forests you can enter for example) but Star Wars is even worse, as you can stay on 'low cover' (which means barrels, computer panels and such and are everywhere).

Smoke I have used some black cotton or felt over the grid. For trees, I bought a bunch of trees and glued them to wooden 2x2 inch square bases. Works and looks great

Me too, but how to make them so they look good and you can be in those hexes? I've had some ideas about smoke, but large and huge bases mix the whole thing again.

I bought cheap trees that are used for railroad stuff and glued them on WK bases. They work awesome.

I haven't used the Hirst Arts molds myself, but a friend in our play group does. His dungeons are beautiful, and it certainly makes the playing experience a lot better.
