| I don't see it that far out folks.
Huge Red's aren't being made ever again. They are a VERY needed Huge Dragon. And it is obvious that it will be 3-5+ years before they get close to printing another one (if they ever do, which I doubht, but sorely want them to).
They'll keep going up in price because there isn't an alternative in sight. Hell, we didn't even get a SINGLE Huge Dragon in the 2nd Huge Set and it is going to be at least a year before we see another Huge Set.
Take it for what it is worth, but HRD's are going up in price, not down.
Simply My Opinion.

Good assessment - I think that's right. I think a lot of discussion on maxminis concerning prices has focused on the skirmish-usefulness of minis. Given the gaps between production of minis that are key for RPG, I expect there will be a lot of market re-adjustments like this one. | Sorry folks, that is no typo, I can't keep them in stock, and I can't get ahold of them, and I have sold 3 at very near that price in the last few months. Just like Drizzt selling at $125, I try to be as competitive as I can with current stuff, but out of stock, I am giong to a lot of effort to try to keep everything from all sets in stock. These are going to continue to rise by my estimation as they get harder and harder to find.

Huge Red Completed Sales
Those are realistic sale prices. Occasionally, they will go higher, but those are the exception. Sorry Hubb, too high. However, if you sell them for that price, god bless.
Seems you could buy a bunch off ebay in the $45-65 range and make decent profit at $95 | | WotC - making me wish more and more every day for a return to the TSR days. :( I fought the snark and the snark won. I'm baaaaaaaaaaack!

| | What you are looking at though is auctions, auctions are always lower, well almost always, than store buy it now prices. Store prices are currently running in the range of 74.95-100.00, and that range is moving upwards monthly. 74.95 is the cheapest buy it now in store currently, and that won't remain that for long as they are in demand. If I had time to watch auctions all the time I would love to, but sadly busy business doesn't allow for it most of the time. That and I am trying to keep up while expecting my third child any day...and well I know which is more important. | | | |

I hear ya about priorities. However, how many of those $75-100 BINs are actually being sold? Not many, if any at all. In any event, I'm not trying to tell you how to run your business. | I wish the E-bay search feature for sold items showed store buy-it-nows still, but it doesn't, cause I think you would be surprised how many of those sell especially from the sellers with longstanding reputations. Maybe someday e-bay will add those back to the search so you can truly get an idea of the range of what is selling for what.

Yeah, I notice you can't do ebay store completed item searches. That's highly annoying. However, I did see this..........
I went to your HRD listing. I then saw this, View seller's other items: Store | List and clicked on List I then clicked on "completed items" and ran the search

I did see that you sold a Drizzt for $125 so maybe $95 for an HRD isn't out of line after all.
Why anyone would pay $125 for a Drizzt is beyond me, especially when there are cheaper ones available but that's fantastic for you. Congrats on the little one by the way. | I'm not saying that they don't sell at those prices, but I am saying that far more are sold at lower prices. If someone pays $500 for a watch, but the majority of sales for that watch are at $20, that model of watch is not worth $500. It is worth ~$20. Aberrations don't drive markets... they are fringe areas around the markets.
If you define the 'store' market to be distinct from the 'auction' market on Ebay, then the price for huge red dragons is $75 - $100.
I think it will be a while before we get another, so the price will continue to climb... but after the initial bump is over, I expect the climb to slow down... GoL was produced in pretty high numbers, and (AFAIK), the total market for the game has not increased at an exponential rate since GoL was released... | Some people don't like bidding on items. They see it as a hassle. They would rather pay a little more than deal with being sniped and have to search and bid on another auction.
You also have to figure in the fact that the person might buy several items from the seller. They save on shipping so spending the extra cash evens out (in their eyes).
And you'd be surprised how people with plenty of money act towards purchases. I know a female attorney that has bragged about the fact she doesn't bargain shop and never has. She has never haggled for anything and she doesn't care about "getting a good deal". She has enough money that to her, it's a waste of her time to bargain shop.
Beats me, she's a nutcase anyway. I'll haggle with a homeless guy when he begs me for change [:p] | | Miniatures for sale *more added 11/26/08*: Click here I will buy your unwanted D&D WotC minis collection (DDM only). Email me your asking price!

| Another factor is that a lot of these really high priced figures end up selling overseas, as not all sellers ship international there is a smaller number of options available, especially as Oryan pointed out to combine shipping. That drizzt sold as part of a $450.00 order, all shipped together international.

That was so true for my case, in the past when I was collecting Mage Knight before it was dropped by Wizkids. Having most of the ebay auctions running on American time meant I had to stay up late into night to watch those ending auctions. Could anyone imagine losing sleep on an auction watch but finally seeing your bids being sniped away in the very last seconds? On those nights, I really wished i had just slept gainfully. So eventually, for most of the stuff I really wanted badly, I just shopped from ebay store sellers. Although the items were usually 3-4 times the auction end prices, buying bulk was the way to go to save on shipping (makes little sense if i'm paying more for shipping than for actual merchandise).
Anyhow, with currently 254 +ve feedbacks at 100% as a buyer on ebay, I'm not about to quit bidding. Perhaps just limiting it to weeekend or pre-holidays nights. Would probably try trading here on Maxminis soon...

| As to the EBAY to Store solution, there are a number of highly active EBAY bidders in this field that I am sure do some of their gathering this way. The most common method is to buy up collections and cull the good stuff for resale and hopefully find a taker for the rest. This works if your time is "free" but if your time is viewed as "business time" then the margins get pretty small and not worth it as a business. I treat my time as "free" and "hobby" and not as business time.
