| Well, I've looked over the MMIV (a birthday gift from my Wonderful Wife) and I have a confession to make:
I kinda like the Wrackspawn.
Oh, not the mini, heavens no. It's hideous, and not in a good way. It looks like somebody left some Carnage minis from Heroclix in a hot car for a week. Very, very bad. I'm glad I don't have any left (thank you, Valued Trading Partners!).
But the monster is starting to grow on me. I like the backstory, and I think it fits in nicely with my concept of the Lower Planes. I may actually use them someday, especially if they release a Wrackspawn mini in the future than doesn't look like poo.
I'm not going to say that I might have received the mini better if I had seen the backstory first (because of the aforementioned fecality of the mini), but it may have softened the blow. I'd really like to see a policy of backstory first, mini second. If I had seen the stats and backstory first, I would have anticipated the mini a lot more. The reverse was just not true.
Anyway, just thought I'd make a confession. In a couple weeks, I may be able to read about the Spawn of Tiamat with an open mind, and might change my mind about them. And I'll also give 'em time to announce an Abishai or two for Blood War... [)]

| Wrackspawn lover [:P]
Wrackspawn are just fun. They're one of the few minis that my players still scratch their heads at (WTF is that?).
As to spawn? I haven't seen the whitespawn hordeling, but I've liked the rest. Then again, I'm fairly easy going. I don't see any major difference in silliness between a giant, floating, multi-eyed, horribly punned Beholder and a big dragon/grasshopper with big razor-blades instead of wings. I even like Barney (although the double-bladed sword wasn't a good choice).
Last, but not least, I sure HOPE there are uncommon Blue Abishai in Blood War. That would be most excellent [^] | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Commander (#32) in only 6 months. Where's my pie? Champion of Dwarven Thunderlashers Knight of the Large Dire Chicken Have/Want List Trade References

| | I think WOTC would be wise to wait until the release of the stats and backstory in a book before issuing a mini. I think that the wrackspawn and dragon spawn would have been better received (though doubtless some would still have objected) if things had been done the other way around. For example, as bad as the marilith looks, I still will want at least one because the monster is already part of the D&D lore and of a number of adventures I plan to run. | | | |

| The mini isn't half bad. Guess which half I'm referring to!
I'm keeping 3, which is my standard for Commons, but I'd love to find a mini with decent legs that I can swap out on the WTF. Waist up, it's adequate. In fact, I might settle for just replacing the gawd-awful boot and repainting. Curse you, Baxa!

| | I like the wrackspawn concept too. One truly cruel monster origin that helps lend horror too the lower planes. I plan on using vaugly recognizable ones of NPC victims to drive home the need to help people. | | High Priest of the Mercury Dragon (Prayers all all I have...)
