| I have decided to start a new thread with the same topic because the first one was supposed to a proposition which eventually seemed to be quite accepted. | There really arent that many Gargantuan and Colossal creatures out there to make a big called shot list. OK there are alot of Gargantuan creatures...But WotC isnt gonna make something really weird like an Astral Dreadnought or a Corpse Gatherer because they arent as popular as the Dragons. Thats the reason why they made the Purple Worm Huge instead of a Gargantuan Icon..They were afraid people wouldnt shell out cash for a monster that wasnt a Dragon.
The only exception to this rule I see is the Tarrasque. Your called shot list has all the evil chromatic dragons as gargantuan, the only 2 good metallic dragons who can be colossal, the Tarrasque, a gargantan undead dragon and a colossal undead dragon. Unless your called shot is a gargantuan good metallic dragon theres no choices left that can really be chosen and honestly expected to be true. Now that Im done with my sermon watch WotC prove me wrong and make the next Icon be a Roc or a Gargantuan Shadow Dragon

Seriously, yes I do think a medium piece could be an icon. I look at the icon line and I don't see it limited to expensive and big. I see people willing to pay for a sufficiently interesting medium (or large or huge) piece with map. There are only so many gargantuan & colossals out there. From a skirmisher's P.O.V. the icon line has opened up 500 & 1000 point figures. Why does a figure have to be big to be worth a 1000 points? I think there are great possibilities for abilities in this. It could be a medium figure sitting on a huge base with some scenery. That would really open up the possibility for interesting poses. Another idea would to release the generic fighter, theif, cleric, wizard adventuring team, four 250 point figures that synergize so well it'd be silly to play them with anything else. I was disapointed that the Red really wasn't that different from the black in what it could do. The "lose an activation for every 100hps" is creative, but I don't want to see it in every piece in the icon line. This is a chance for Design and Development to try powerful things, and if they are successful scaled down versions could find their way into 200 point play. I'm not saying this piece is going to be after the blue, but I'll wager there's a P&L out there for it. It would be a legitimate way to stretch the line out longer and create more anticipation than people just waiting for the next dragon to come down the chute.
If Epic Tordek was released on his own, imagine how many people would buy it.
Also, in the previous thread I called 2 huges, but in the transition someone else has used that idea.
Anyway the possibilities for variety in 1000 point figures is stimulating enough that I'm going to start a thread on it. I invite you to contribute.

| As already mentioned, there isn't a very large list possible what with there not being that many minis worthy of Iconic status without going into obscure creatures that only a small, select group of people would want.
I guess I'll just pretty much have to make a fairly typical guess before it is snatched up by someone else. Put me down for the Gargantuan Brass Dragon. | |

You mean Hecatoncheires? If so, it is Huge.
I've also seen in ELH that both Force and Prismatic Dragons may reach colossal size. That leaves Gargantuan versions free.

Considering there wyrmlings start as huge, and they are considered gargantuan by young adult.

[/zoidberg] You mean Hecatoncheires? If so, it is Huge. I've also seen in ELH that both Force and Prismatic Dragons may reach colossal size. That leaves Gargantuan versions free. That's it! It's only huge?
Yes, it is Huge, although it may advance into a Gargantuan and even Colossal size outsider.

| I agree that the Tarrasque is indeed fodder for ICON consideration, I just don't see WOTC creating a "unique" monster that almost never pops up in a D&D game.
My $0.02 would be bet on a Titan, likely wielding a Maul of "some sort". | |
