| | If that is a dwarf with a crossbow, that would be useful. As for the demonic gnoll priestess, the sculpt looks good, but I am disappointed they gave this gnoll an axe. Surely gnolls can wield something other than a battle axe or a bow. So far of all the gnoll sculpts almost all have had an axe or bow, except the lonely gnoll sergeant with a flail. I would really like to see a gnoll dual wielding weapons (their favored class is ranger, after all) and a gnoll armed with a sword, a spear, etc. | | | |

I'm pretty sure it's a crossbow. Also, note that the caption mentions he has exploding bolts, which suggests that he has a crossbow.
Pretty cool preview. The Marilith could be a pretty mean beatdown machine.
Dwarf Sniper - very cool. I have been wanting to see more crossbows in DDM. Looks like this fella has the Rapid Reload feat. I hope the explosive bolts are fairly powerful, because if not, it will be hard to justify spending 34 points on him.
Demonic Gnoll Priestess - neat, two Gnolls in one set. I can dig it.

| Dwarf Sniper - kinda crappy sculpt, not a needed figure at all. 3/10 Demonic Gnoll Priestess - Was there something wrong with just a Gnoll Priest? Seriously, why is there some dramatic need to make so many female figures? Is it really some sort of marketing scheme to get more women to play this game? It hasn't worked for 30 years, still isn't going to work. Anyways, awesome sculpt, crappy hooves, totally not needed at all 3/10

| Very nice. I like both the new minis there. I tends to agree that is is a crossbow on the dwarf, a funky magic crossbow with a scope but a crossbow none the less.
Nice to see a second gnoll in the set too. And the stats are just gravy. | | | |

Jonathan Tweet, one of the designer of Chainmail, seems to try to strive for gender equity in NPCs. This leads, oddly to charges he is favoring females or being misogynist
http://www.jonathantweet.com/jotgamesmisogyny.html
One year, as a free lancer, I wrote an RPG adventure. For the nonplayer-characters, I determined the gender
of each one randomly, whether they were allies, villains, or victims. I
didn't want to assign the genders intentionally because I didn't want my subconscious biases to show through. The designer the RPG for which I was writing the adventure reviewed the manuscript. His comment was, "Why are the player-characters always beating up chicks?" In other words, he was astounded that I had so many female nonplayer-characters as villains. He thought it was misogynistic to have the characters in combat against women so often. I intended the presence of female villains to demonstrate gender
equality. Instead, it was (in the eyes of at least some readers)
misogynistic.
When I started playing a gnoll in the Xen'drik Expeditions blackwheel campaign, I looked up some basic facts about Hyenas to see if there were any simple roleplay hooks. Oddly enough its VERY DIFFICULT to tell the difference between male and female hyenas. Because the females resemble males ... | | Have/Want list

| I designed a dwarf crossbowman a while back. This one has weak offensive stats. It's hard to tell what it looks like due to angle and that balloon. 10 ranged damaged in LG isn't very common, though.

Oddly enough its VERY DIFFICULT to tell the difference between male and female hyenas. Because the females resemble males ... I think they could easily leave the gender out of the vaguely human, humanoids in these instances. They put very defined human style breasts on the priestess, what is really gained by this type of thing? I seriously don't grasp the need for it. A bit of a red herring: if you win init you don't get the + 5 damage, and if you lose init, any opponent who stays standing next to the maralith deserves to lose. I would go with the gnoll sergeant; she will only attack for 10 on the first hit on each enemy, or actually, if you have one, the DCoL wouldn't be bad; if you can set up a flank you are go. How about:
Maralith 73 DCoL 42 Fang dragon 42 Mounted Drow patrol 27 Small black dragon 11 Timber Wolf 5
You get MW for the two dragons, and loads of damage output. OtOH, constructs would not, unless I am confused, take the 5 extra, or your guys still count as flanking, i forget. | | Thousands of Zulu's, behind You!

Ironic how he's either prefers female sculpts or hates women?
I'm also not entirely sure where the idea that there are too many female minis comes from. Refine Vesivus using the gender filter. Lots more male than female sculpts.
