| Since it is going to be a bit before I get my first pack, I was wondering how people who have gotten their hands on the figs at the prereleases think they stack up to the preview pics? Were those significantly better than the actual paintjobs and sculpts?

| The only mini I can say didn't look good was the Green Slaad. It looks like a Retarded Mutant Kermit.
Also, one guy pulled a mounted valenar and his face was hilarious. He looked terrified!
On a side note, the best minis I saw were Kolyarut, Vlaakith, and Howler. Kolyarut and Vlaakith for the paintjobs and Howler for sculpt(Ethereal Marauder gets props here too)

| I'll second how bad the Green Slaad looked - he looked almost comical. The paint job and color selection are horrible. He's defiantely going to the paint shop for a re-do. And almost for that reason alone I didn't use him in my warband (besides that he sticks).Â
From the pre-release I attended Lord of Blades, Lilland, Githyanki Dragon Rider, Howler, Water Elemental, Ice Devil, Maug, Gnole Trickster, Solar, Firegiant, and many others all looked great.Â

| | The Phoera is the best so far for living up to expectations. The clear plastic is actually shaded yellow through red, just like in the pics. Why couldn't they have done that with other fire creatures? | | | |

| The only one I was disapointed in was the Free League Ranger, his flesh tone makes him look like he's a zombie.
Other than that everything I've seen looks mighty fine.

Yup. And the Marilith does look better in person, but still nowhere near as good as it shoulda been. | | Greyhaze's DDM Spoilers Champion of a Medium Dog & then a Darkenbeast , Raistlin Majere, Nightmare WDQ25/60, Warduke WD60/60, Anti-Champion of Guns, "Knight of Bugbears", and Joke Champion of Venger. | The pit fiend is more impressive in person than in the photos. It really stands out on a gaming table. The horned devil is also quite nice. The lillend doesn't look quite as good as the photos. The flesh has very little shading. I really liked the ethereal marauder. It's very well done.

| | Thanks to everyone. A friend of mine will be disappointed about the green slaad, as that species is one of his faves. I was hoping the lilend would have been better as well, but it sounds in general as if the set is living up to the expectations. | Shadowdancer looks much better in person.
Gnome Trickster is suprisingly detailed for a small mini, mine has a great paint job.
Pit Fiend looks just like the picture - great paint job.
Air Genasi Swashbuckler doesn't look QUITE as nice as it does on the poster, but its still a good looking mini.
Hero of Valhalla is great for a common.
Vlaakith is nicely done. Her cloak has neat little decals on it.
I, too have an albino Free League Ranger, although some of the others I saw looked nice. I think some must have missing paint steps.
My Soulknife Infiltrator has a smudged face, but it seems to be an isolated case and the sculpt is awesome, so I don't mind.
Green Slaad manages to look totally unthreatening. It looks too goofy.
Elf Warmage is quite tall, but not terribly so.
Forgepriest is gigantic. He really is too big.
Githyanki Dragon Knight looked very nice in person too, a lot better than the picture made it look. | | Champion of the Revenant Knight of the Elf Duskblade Complete Trades: Oni, Kidkach, Melrune, callidusx3

| | Overall, I think that the painting is very good. There are a few miniatures that look cartoony (green slaad, harmonium guard) and some are way too big (fire giant, living flaming sphere, maug, green slaad...) | I saw many figures at the pre-release, but none long enough or in enough detail to comment on them all. Instead, I will jsut give my opinion of the rares I personally now own:
Air Genasi Swashbuckler Nice pose, paint not so much. I wish it was an uncommon so I had more than one and could do a repaint on it.
Centaur War Hulk I don't normally like Centaurs but this is pretty sweet. It does kinda look like he has just run through a cesspit, though.
Lillend Beautiful. Not quite as nice overall as teh preview but up-close the wings are stunning.
Storm Silverhand
Fire Giant Forgepriest That is one huge mother! Love the anvil-on-a-stick. I wish the hair wasn't so dorky and that he had pupils in his eyes, though. Paint is decent but not as nice as the original fire giant IMO.
Hellcat Err...next figure.
Ice Devil A bit monochromatic. I wisht there had been a wash on this to bring out the details more.
Githyanki Dragon Knight Wow. Just wow. SOOOO much better than the original LRD. I want more!
Owlbear Rager The original owlbear was a highlight of Harbinger, so why make this one so silly-looking? Looks like a 3D cartoon, shoulda been an uncommon. | | Champion of the Gelatinous Cube. Nemesis of Gnomes and Dinosaurs.

| | My impression so far of the owlbear is it looks pretty good, except for the face. Something just doesn't look right about the face, but I wasn't sure exactly what. | | So far almost all of my complaints (which are few - this is a great set) have to do with the sculpts, not the paint jobs. The paint jobs are quite good at all rarities (taking into account the amount of work they're allowed to do at each level.) | | Anson on WotC boards | |

| | Sorry to be late posting this. Most figures were quite good (maybe not as nice as the review pictures but...), with the exception of the Chasme! Unless mine missed a quality control check, the only paint on it is some white on the wings! It makes the frost dwarf look well done! | | i got my case yesterday. very happy with results. Fire giant in my opinion is the best of the firegiants as he looks more intimidating than any of the other giants in his size range. my chasme has blue wings and looks like a giant fly. i think the black works on the other miniatures because they have other colors mixed in . not sure why the soulknife has black in the middle of his face. in this case many mins are better than preivews | | The ROCK layeth the smacketh down.
