| Today, while shopping for the upcoming Saturnalia jamboree, I happened upon this:
Human Blackguard, Orc Spearfighter, Crested Felldrake, Zombie, Orc Archer, Hell Hound, Human Bandit, Wolf Skeleton; and, from a non-Harbinger set: the Stirge.
Total cost?
$28
Quite a deal, I think.

Congrats. You found a very good deal. Especially for the Stirge. What do those things go for now, about $25 each.Â

You and me both, old timer. Those were the days. I remember driving all over CT looking for Harbinger boosters before they finally disappeared.

That's not bad. Could you explain what a "Saturnalia Jamboree" is though? Saturnalia
was a Roman celebration that basically involved getting rip-roaring
drunk for a couple of weeks and partaking in all manner of debauched
pleasures. It was unique in that Romans of all social classes wore the
traditional cap of a freed slave signifying that, during this time, all
Romans - even slaves - were equal. Not everyone actually adhered to the
tradition of allowing the slaves to act as equals but it was
commonplace for the slaves and servants to be allowed to stop their
normal duties and to eat, drink and even fornicate as equals with all
other Romans.
When Chritiantiy was young, they found that people just didn't respond
well to a springtime Christmas so they moved the celebration of
Christmas to the time of the Saturnalia.

When Chritiantiy was young, they found that people just didn't respond
well to a springtime Christmas so they moved the celebration of
Christmas to the time of the Saturnalia. Ding, ding, ding. Sulaco gets the prize.
On the other hand, I think that if you trace back days of the week far enough, and account for the differences in Julian and Gregorian calendars, then you end up with Dec. 24 of the year 1 BC falling on a Friday, and, if you use the over-simplified assumption that Christmas was the actual switch from BC to AD, then you see that poor Mary and Joseph couldn't get a room in the inn because it was a Friday night, and Friday nights are always packed.
