| | Since it's the end of the year I thought it would be great to go back and remember the great mini moments of 2006! I know most of you have great stories to tell.
One story that I have enjoyed is the return of Dark Father after his falling away. I was touched w/ all the support the forum gave Dark Father after his friends betrayal. Everyone got together and gave Dark Father supportive words and encouragement. So everyone give yourself a pat on the back for being so supportive!
I also enjoyed my chat w/ Matt and Shoe at Un-Con (WoTC website convention) about the upcoming release of Bloodwar. I know I asked alot of dumb questions, but for me it was still alot of fun. I know some maxminis people also chatted w/ them too. They explained that they have so much to consider when putting the stats for these cards together. Trying to make both the skirmishers happy and RPG players happy is a lot of hard work. We even brought up the idea of creating a nymph. They objected at first because she lacked clothes. So someone brought up the idea of using sea shells. And I can't remember which one immediently responded, but he said "sea shells?" He then went on to say that is it was a possibility.
So anyways tell us some of your most tastefull stories that happened this year. I'm sure we're all interested in hearing in what you've got to say!

| I stopped by at the FLGS to pick up some unrelated items just as a local draft tournament was starting. The players needed one more person to make the four-person draft system work. Of course, if I wanted to hop in, I'd have to pay for two boosters and the $10 fee. The great players there offered to let me "borrow" a few packs (leaving me with only the $10 fee). They also graciously offered to let me use their maps, dice, etc. (since I hadn't brought my own). Perhaps this minis memory isn't about the gameplay itself, but I was extremely impressed with how friendly the minis community is in my area. Let's keep it up!
Also, the other memory that popped into my mind was pulled a pit fiend at the BW prerelease event. The *thunk* as it hit the table is still echoing in my mind, and it was pretty cool to see everyone hurry over to take a look at it. | | "Clearly a case of too many hunchbacks and not enough mad scientists..."

| I've got another "close call"-match.
I have a Cadaver Collector with 10 HP on the table, and my opponent has a Gauth, 6 squares away, with 20-something HP. Neither of us has a commander left, so it was all up to that one critical inititative roll. Unfortunately I lost that one.

| 1. Being picked up off a meetingplace posting and invited to play with Chad DragonLord, Matt Barry et al at their montly events in Doylestown PA (my first matches). 2. In my second match ever, having both of Chad's Hill Giant Barbarians fail MC and rout off the board for my first win. 3. NJ qualifier at Jester's - first real "event" 4. Losing to a 13 yr old girl at above qualifier, who was using voices for her pieces ("Please dont shoot me") and had nicknames (ex "Wolfie") 5. Taking second at a BW prerelease (losing to Chad in the finals of course) - I dont think he'll ever let me beat him again...
6. (Vassal) Using a Orc Wizard to Ram a HH, predicting that it would be funny if I could win inti and push him into a pit with a second one. Then winning, casting and having the HH fail the save!

| I have had so many 'moments' since I returned to the hobby and this awesome community.
1) The way that the community welcomed me back. The help and support offered to me by members of the community was quite amazing. You all made my return so easy. I will never be able to thank everyone enough.
2) My two boys and their gifts to me, to help get me started. Feeling quite awed at the road ahead, after seeing the prices of certain older peices from some sets, I was sure that my return was going to be a complete failure. Then my two sons completely changed my views. A gift from each of them. They happily gave me an LSD each. These were gifts from Chaotic Good back in the day, and had been kept for all the months I was away from the hobby. A simple gesture from my sons gave some otherwise desperately needed tradebait, which in turn was enough to get me going.
3) Krush and SmithMeg. These were the first two people to help me out by the way of trades and/or purchases of minis.
4) Opening those first parcels. Smelling the plastic, wondering why the hell I ever left this hobby and the community.
5) Buying some BW and opening the first booster and getting a Lillend (my first ever 'clear plastic' mini).
6) Narethkraag cornering me on the MM chat window and getting my postal details from me. Thankyou for the gift.
There are so many more 'moments', but the ones above would have to be the standout ones.

| 1) Teaching a new guy, Brenden, how to play. 2 weeks later, after making one of the crazy risky maneuvers I use with noobies he pulverized me. It was only after, that I realized that he actually forced me into that maneuver, sweet.
2) Pit Fiend and Marilith as first 2 Bloodwar rares.
3) Getting the trade bug.
4)Pulling 4 Tordeks out of 6 boosters (WTF).
