| | Honestly, this was the first I had heard about the Spider Queen in Night Below. That would be awesome. Hopefully, with a return to the underdark, we can return to some really good, classic types. Also, I kind of like the idea of a desert themed set. It will be interesting to see what Wizards can do with the idea, and see if they can pull it off without screwing it up. | | Champion of Mohrg

They like to mention that when they announce. No huge set until 2008 at the earliest THANK GOD! (or your deity of choice). Huge sets absolutely BLOW! The distribution is messed up, the slots aren't filled to really suit anyone, the split rarity is a nightmare and a mess....the list goes on and on. Here's hoping we NEVER see another craptastic huge set. I'm hoping the Icons line will open up the huges or something similar, but standard huge sets really suck leprous monkey genitals.. I must say I disagree, at least, I like Huge minis. Wether they are made in Huge sets or (preferably) on Icons, I think we need huge monsters like Aboleths, Nalfeshnee, Huge Elementals, Hydras,... I like the huge minis just fine, but huge sets as they are/have been really, really blow. They need a new distribution setup.

| | There is a first edition module series titled "Desert of Desolation", I hope there are some minis from that series---Some of the things in it are Djinn, Archers mounted on Pegasus, and a Mummy--The cover of the module has a purple worm but they already have one of those. | | | |

| Posted By Cthulhufnord on 02/15/2007 9:15 AM Desert of Desolation.... not the most inspiring set name. Sounds like it could potentialy have some Dark Sun stuff in it.
Not Dark Sun related in any way.

Just make it a torso only with no wings and there you go. Who wouldn't want that? | | WotC - making me wish more and more every day for a return to the TSR days. :( I fought the snark and the snark won. I'm baaaaaaaaaaack!

Just make it a torso only with no wings and there you go. Who wouldn't want that? A torso only with no wings? You've basically just described a frozen turkey! I don't think that would work as well as the Purple Worm did. Though, I would love to see a Roc as an Icon...maybe how they're doing the Drzzt pack. I could see the Roc come with an elf mounted on an eagle, or a whale (like the monster manual picture). The icon packs open up a whole possibility for minis we've all wanted but never thought they'd make or that others don't want wasting a rare spot.
In fact, they should just make the G-cube a separate purchase. Hell, make it like those plastic ice cubes, you can have another mini inside floating. When not playing, take it off its removable base, and freeze it, and plop it into your drink. | | Vindicated Night Below Champion of the Digestor!!! Night Below is already representing Queen of Spiders. What do you mean? Has someone verified the presence of Lolth herself in the set?! Now seriously, any confirmation for the set?
We already have the Aspect of Lolth.
What I meant was that the super-module "Queen of the Spiders" is already covered pretty well both by Underdark and Night Below. Archfiends covered Lolth herself.
The original supermodules were Against the Giants, Desert of Desolation, Scourge of the Slavelords, Temple of Elemental Evil, and Queen of the Spiders (which also contained Against the Giants). | | Called Shot: Against the Giants -- Aboleth Called Shot: Demonweb - Large Whip Spider Another Champion of the Aboleth | |

| Posted By Luisjoey on 02/15/2007 11:41 AM an hippo would be very odd >.>
I would like to see more mummies, some khopesh! and valenar elves from eberron ^^ Hippos live in the Nile, and the acnient egyptians are certainly a classic "desert" culture. Hippos were actually one of the most fearsome creatures of the time and area. The typical egyptian floating barge coudl easily be flipped or swamped by an annoyed hippo. They typically had a look out whose job was to look for hippo snouts in the water.
So, yes a Dire Hippo would fit the theme. I'm not sure it would be one toreally go wild over, though....it would make a pretty easy large uncommon.
I would also like see more valenar. I don't play eberron, but do ahve a desert elf culture in my homebrew (not copied either, it's from 1982!).
Khopesh as in the big, funny shaped swords used by the anciet egyptians? Some minis with those would be cool, but if the size of the monolith's sword is any indicator, they wind up as badly balanced as the DE gargoyle!

Maybe a "Young Roc", but really that owuld jus tbe a giant eagle. Even a huge Roc wouldn't be all that exciting, and could never see an Icon line Roc under the current scheme.
I'm hoping that the Drizzt icon pack is a move towards some diffenrt ways to market minis. While I love the huges, I agree with the folks who say they mess up a regular set. Huge sets as ICons would be fine, as would more of the sets like the upcoming Drizzt/Wulfgar/Icingdeath set.

That would be wonderful! However, with Expedition to the Demonweb Pits, due to be released in April, I think we'll have our drow module. To expect another one seems unprobable, though it would rock.
