I call foul!  How can she be more expensive than the Balor? It's some kind of crazy popularity contest I say!

Pathetic Earthlings. Hurling your bodies out into the void - without the slightest inkling of who or what is out here. If you had known anything about the true nature of the universe - anything at all - you would have hidden from it in terror.

Yeah, Vadania's price seems kinda silly. But, when you think about it, this simply reflects the fact that there probably aren't all that many for sale. I mean, if you have a Vadania, and someone else is willing to pay $40 for it (maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday), then, provided you can afford to just hold the piece (and, after all, how much space does she take up in your warehouse?), then it's not so amazingly unreasonable.

Perhaps something that is driving Vadania's price is the number of broken arms on Vadania pieces. Hard-core collectors want things in more or less mint condition, which would mean that they want a Vadania in bag with arm intact.

Vadania is a skew of the supply data, not the demand data.

Thanks for the list. I always find pricing info interesting.

I still remember when Drizzt first came out. I pulled two of him, and since he was unique and everyone else had one, I couldn't find anyone to take my extra one in a trade. I was ecstatic when I finally managed to trade him for a Hound Archon. Seeing those prices, I wish I'd kept the extra Drizzt....

I did something similar: traded a Drizzt for a Dire Wolf back in the day....  It was just before Drizzt began to skyrocket.Â

My wife bought me a case of Archfiends. With much glee we ripped the boosters open. I pulled some good pieces but was cursed with pulling triple Drizzts from the same case    .  My wife wanted to keep one for herself but I knew better and traded hers away anyway. I got a Hill Giant for one and something else for the other.

Ouch. I traded a bit heavily for mine (Ryld plus Warforged Titan) which, at the time were combined more than Drizzt. I stand by my decision.

I wasn't really collecting at the time Archfiends came out - but I wanted a Drizzt. I ebayed him for $11. I wish I had gotten more than one.

One of the few cases I purchased was Archfiends. About a year ago. For about $300. Pulled a Drizzt. Yay!

Again looking at these prices I might just need to break my collections and ebay off a few of the higher-priced minis that don't see RPG play (i.e. Drizzt).

It's funny, Drizzt has been the most used drow in our RPG games, epsecially when we need a main villain. It is the best sculpt in the lot in my opinion.

The Black dragon is so much prettier than the Large Black.

It would be a totally arbitryary list, but I'd like to see a top 25, not highest value, but hardest to trade for. The pieces that people just don't wanna come off of.

Some of them would overlap (Drizzt would proably be one) but some are multiple or wicked useful. Like the LBD. I don't see a lot of action for those.

Yes, the LBD is certainly one of the hardest to trade for, especially during this qualifier season.

I wonder if the prices will just increase over time. I've been extremely lucky so far with my 3-10 boosters per set. My wife always opens them and had my most wanted in every set (mainly Balor, Beholder Lich, Pit Fiend, Sorcerer on Black Dragon).

Still, I don't think I'd ever sell something like the Balor - even if it's price would jump to 100$. There are few more thrilling encounters for a rpg-group than a Balor fight, and the sculpt is just awesome.

I wish I'd have known about D&D minis back when Archfiends came out. I'd have kept every Drizzt and probably would not have sold them before a new one was announced. But then, I am one of those Drizzt fanboys (can I still use that term since I'll turn 30 soon?)

It's really sad, that there are certain minis I'll never be able to use in our campaign. A huge gold would make a nice NPC for once, I have three displacer beast pack lords but not a single displacer beast, the beholder is one of THE D&D creatures, my only mind flayer is Shuluth (great main villain though) and so on.

I'm not sure about whether the price will increase. If there is another list made and someone wants to take it on, maybe it would be interesting to see the change in prices from the last month, 6 months, year, etc. This trend may give an indication of whether the prices have leveled off (something I feel in my gut, but have no proof) or are continuing to increase.

Still, I don't think I'd ever sell something like the Balor - even if it's price would jump to 100$. There are few more thrilling encounters for a rpg-group than a Balor fight, and the sculpt is just awesome.

Had my first ever in 23+ years of gaming. And you know what was better than fighting one balor? Defeating the balor and then fighting the balor's mate, another balor, right after it exploded.
