Brass Golem

The one in the preview is much sweeter looking by far so here's the questions.

1) Is the one from the preview a pre production mini or is it the real deal?

2) Could the ebay pic be from a first production run that the minis stil need to be tweaked?

Will the real deal please stand up

19. Greater Basilisk (?pts)

The only difference I see is picture size. I don't know how you think either mini's counterpart looks any different otherwise.

Ah, he linked to my site before the change... sorry, the images got updated, if you like I can email them to you...

actually I'll do you one better.  Add -old.jpg instead of .jpg to your links (that's dash "o-l-d") and it will work.

*sigh* ok, I'll do it...

Honestly I don't see a big difference between the spoiler pics and the images that were previewed for either the brass golem or basalisk. The lighting / paint tone of the preview is nicer, but otherwise they look the same to me.

They show both production minis and masters in the previews but I'm pretty sure the ...and beyond minis are always paint masters.

And IMO the Ebay spoilers were mostly rejects and minis not quite up to snuff that someone probably fished out of the trash or took home instead of throwing away.

I have to agree: I hope the brass golem is an uncommon; it's something I could handle a few of and really don't want it taking up a rare slot.

For me, the brass golem is good enough for a rare slot. It's not going to see a lot of play, even though it is very cool looking. I won't be sad by a long shot if it's uncommon, though.

I still hope it's an uncommon, but if that polished look is actually how it'll look right out of a pack, that's pretty sweet.

Basilisk looks identical. The production golem from the preview looks substantially better than the whatever? golem from the ebay auction.

Knowing my luck the golems I get will have 3 times as much blackwash on them thus ruining their awesomeness

Lidda didn't say anything about the rarity of the minis, so all we know is that either the checklist or the preview was wrong.

I know she didn't. It's just a possible conclusion from her words. Anyway, we have an official position in "June and Beyond" article which should be the closest one to truth.

I would trust the site over a leaked checklist. Or, has there been any examples of where the previews have been wrong to make it less credible than an unveriiable source?

They both look pretty good.  Lightning definatly has quite a bit to do with it.  Even if the Golem turns out a little less shiney than the preview pic I'll still love it.

I seem to recall at one time there was an error on the rarity of figures and it was corrected in a later post on WOTC site.  I can't remember the figure, but I seem to remember it was listed as an uncommon in the preview that was a rare in the set.  They updated the posting a couple of days/hours later with the correct info.

My response was in no way a confirmation to anything other than the fact that we use production minis in our previews. So, no, I am not confirming anything about the rarity of this fig.

To tell the truth, I avoid looking at rarities and stats until the set is released. I prefer to keep the spoilers I have access to at a minimum. That way I enjoy release day as much as everyone else, and I'm less likely to accidentally let something slip.

No thanks, I don't like to gamble.

But why would you trust a source you can't verify over the actual company? Teflon Jeff mentioned another mistake on the leak, so it has a higher chance of being wrong. A mistake like this would be caught by now, as the only other error anyone has mentioned was corrected soon afterwards.

Teflon hasn't stated what else is wrong with the checklist, but I'm not using the checklist as my source.  Also, the monthly previews are often wrong where the minis are concerned, while the checklist is a direct scan and adds up.  Maybe there was a change, but then my other source would also have to be incorrect.

Large gold dragon damage was wrong from this set of previews, though now changed.

Rarities of huges was incorrectly stated in WoDQ prevews :|

I'm pretty sure other rarites have ben wrong from once or twice before, but would be hard to look for them, as you would expect, errors (like the large gold dragon) are fixed when noticed.
