| *drumroll* pretty bad I hate to say . A step back in the quality we've seen in the last two sets. I played in a pre-release today and saw a majority of the figures. Sloppy jobs and goofy eyes all-round. The sculpts are good except for the mithral guard... aka 'roid dwarf. The brass golem was probably the best paint job which isn't saying much. Sorry to be the first to say it... | |

| Agreed. It looks like they didn't thin the paint well enough on quite a few of the minis. A lot of the fine detail is just lost under so thick a coat (lifeleech otyugh, *all* the dragons*, etc).Â
Also, they need to learn to do stripes. The digester isn't too bad (only had 'em on the legs). The dire tiger, otoh...*shudder*.

| | Just got my hands on two packs and the ones I got for the most part look better than what y'all are describing. I have to see them in sunlight before I make my final decissions, but I'm seeing no mistakes or bad coat jobs like in others and the brighter minis look pretty good so far (carrion crawler, golem). | | Completed trades: blackthorne, Drakkengi,Thorgrin, Ironfist Boulderbender x2, ckissee, nasamonkey, Username, Star, Ace13 x3, emontedodger x2, Drconveyor, church, Joeyb, Sir Bozak The Damned, Xeromod, the other guy x2, Qucalion of Celene, Dagaron x2, berus316, qillan_dvra, AshloreDarkShadow

| Overall, the paint jobs I saw today were good enough to satisfy me.
The biggest issue seems to be a few minis like my Assassin and Halfling Tombseeker which have too much flesh colored paint on and around the faces, but I also saw others of the same mini that looked a lot better, so I don't think it's systematic. Several people mentioned that the eyes on many of the common and uncomon minis aren't painted as well as they have been in the past, but some of the uncommons are on the other end of the spectrum with lots of detail.
I don't mind a few minis that are below average in the paint department, if the quality of most of the other commons and uncommons stays as high as it has been on the majority of the minis from the last few sets.

| I didn't pull a Large Gold for my band (as a matter of fact, my pieces SUCKED). But, I did see a Large Gold Dragon.
And, I must say, I was disappointed. The Gold isn't very shiny, and the thing looks like it has no eyes. A friend of mine said it looked like Falcor. I wouldn't go that far.

| It seems it's the same every set before we have minis in hannds it's ohhhhhhhhhhs and ahhhhhhhhhhs but as soon as the pre lease or release happens it's this is wrong or that is wrong. Could the paints be better? ALWAYS no matter how good they get there's always room for improvement.
Impressions from what I've seen so far for the most part as good or better than the poster and some like the greenspawn Zealot look fricking amazing this opinion is based on my 10 boosters so far and the 5 cases I saw opened at the pre release.
Rares not seen
Guardian Naga Large Gold Dragon Mind Flayer Lich Orc Banebreak Rider
They fixed the problem that War Drums created and have slowly been moving forward.
If the paint jobs are that bad and you feel that choked about it I guess maybe it might be time to switch to a different hobby where one has 100% QC on the paints something like oooohhhh I don't know .... WARHAMMER
If not understand mini are mass produced by for the most part unskilled labor that wish they could afford to collect what we take for granted

| | Overall I was happy with what I saw. THe LGD was more gold than it looked in the pics and the Large Shadow Dragon I thought was really cool looking (along with the Shadow). I like a lot of the brighter minis in the set. I do agree that the Dire Tiger's stripes could have been better, but so far as I recall this was really their first attempt at stripes, wasn't it? | | Champion of the Yeti (large uncommon please!) | From what I saw at the pre-release I was quite pleased. Yeah there are a few things here and there, but things like the Shadow Dragon and Noble Salamander just plain made my day. The Shadow Dragon was far better than I expected, and the Noble Salamander which I didn't like the look of in the preview, looked just plain impressive in person. So overall I was very pleased with what I have seen so far, and I think I saw all but 3 or 4 of the rares at this point.

| I was so looking forward to this set, but I've been disheartened by various accounts and photographic evidence... I found this picture on flickr, which I hope the owner won't mind me linking to:
http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=689822363&size=o&context=set-72057594097409446
There are definitely some paintjob issues, but the SEAMS, oh my! The seams on the lifeleech otyugh and the dire tiger are VERY OBVIOUS, even in the official gallery (which tends to use the most flattering angle that a given mini has), but the above link shows that also the large gold dragon has some HIDEOUS SEAMS. The one along the spine and the one where the head meets the neck are both conspicuous to say the least, but the one on the tail is downright awful: it is so poorly integrated and fitted, and so exposed that it all but ruins the mini's appearance. After thirteen sets, something like this just isn't acceptable. I am very sad that the product line I care so much about can yield something this bad.
I will say, however, that Lady Vol seems to have some nice detail. Also, the dread wraith is simplistic, which works very well with the concept. Good job!

| 12 Boosters and only two of my wanted minis. I haven't seen one of the dragons, the Orc, Wulfgar or Raistlin. I got the Frost Giant and was very pleased with the paint job on him. Somebody wrote, that the cloak was black. I had more luck with mine. Lady Vol and the riders look good as well.

| So far so good in my opinion on the paint jobs in general. There are always a couple minor issues but that can be expected with mass production on this scale.
I am a little disappointed once again in the damaged cards in the box syndrome again.

I am a little disappointed once again in the damaged cared in the box syndrome again. What? From the little I've seen so far I think that the minis look good, my Heirophant wasn't bad, and the paint on the uncommons looks particularly good. Sorry about that. I must luck out becuase I've never had damaged cards. What do you term as damaged, I may just see it as "normal". and how often does it happen? How many were damaged in your set? A couple of my boosters were smashed on the tp of my case, but I think that was a shipping issue more than anything else. Could it be the same?
