| Just looking around, I found prices on these minis:
Large Black Dragon $29.00 Raistlin Epic $40.00 (an ending ebay bid)
I don't really see anything all that special about the LBD. Good skirmish stats, but nothing that would justify an almost $30.00 price tag.
As for the Epic Raistlin...the fig can be had for $10.00. How in hades can the extra cardboard cost $40.00?
If someone could explain this to me, I would appreciate it.

| LBD is an excellent skirmish piece that works well in multiples - and - it's a much sought after RPG piece. Try to find someone willing to give one up, and you'll quickly see why they are so expensive.
Raistlin, I'm not sure, guess it's the fanboy appeal. I only have 2 because I collect a minimum of 2 anyways... skirmish he's decent, but you only need one, and RPG, how many could you possibly want? So must be the collectors that are pushing this market. | | Greyhaze's DDM Spoilers Champion of a Medium Dog & then a Darkenbeast , Raistlin Majere, Nightmare WDQ25/60, Warduke WD60/60, Anti-Champion of Guns, "Knight of Bugbears", and Joke Champion of Venger. | Some people are crazy.
The Dragon makes some sense. The rare combination of a good skirmish piece, a desirable RPG figure, and a collectable worthy mini. People want more than one.
As for the Raistlin Epic Card so far you can only get one if you happen to be by at a store for one of the Night Below release events. Down the line it'll be in a retailer kit and put on the web for download but some people just have to have it now I guess.

| The Large Black Dragon's price is justified. It looks good, it's an awesome skirmish piece, and it's a core RPG mini. In fact, I'm surprised that it's not more expensive than the Beholder Lich - most price guides seem to have the B Lich as more expensive.
The epic Raistlin card, on the other hand, is way too much for $40 (and I'm a big Raistlin fan). Nuff said. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades.

| I remember when I was selling some Magic cards on eBay. I had a signed foil Rack and Ruin. At the time, a non-signed foil Rack and Ruin went for about $3.
Bidding closed on my signed copy at $38. I was pretty stoked. Especially when you consider that the artist says on his website that he will gladly sign cards if you simply mail the card to him and provide return postage. Ha.

40 dollars for an epic card is ridiculous. Epic cards aren't worth more than $5, IMO. I agree, right after GenCon last year the epic Drizzt's were going for about $50 apiece on ebay (and I gave 2 extras away D'oh) the price didn't really go down until they released it in a retailer kit. Its the fan appeal even People who never skirmish and never intend to skirmish want a card with their favorite characters stats.  At the Blood wars prerelease I had a kid offer me half his entire collection, moderatly large one going back to deathknell, for Drizzt and his epic card. I wasn't sure if he was serious and told him that Drizzt simply wasn't worth that much and I wouldn't feel right taking advantage of him like that. I told him the card would be in future retailer kits and he could hunt for Drizzts on Ebay for about 80 bucks or so if he really wanted one that bad. But the point is that a fanboy will pay exorbitant just to get something they feel they must have right now.

| LBD for $29 is relatively cheap. Look at buy it now options (in the $35-45 range and selling out). Glad I snagged mine for $15 during prerelease prices. Raistlin's Epic going for $40? Pure fanboydom.

| Wow, that's crazy for the Epic Raistlin... especially since every store that had a release got 20 of them. Seeing how our stored didn't even get 20 people, many folks got extras. That and it will likely appear in a prize kit and for download. The dragon that seems reasonable, and will likely only grow higher. | | Champion of the Kender ckissee - "providing TPK's since 2007" Albert Einstein never once said that if the bees disappeared, "man would have only four years of life left" but the theory is a scary prospect. | |

| I bought my raistlin online for $20, it came with the NB dice. So basically I paid $40 for 2 dice and 2 cards - because there is only one place in all of Toronto that bothered to get the release kit - and I have a feeling that they may not sell them to me at all. I figure that $10/card and $10/dice was steep, but acceptable. If availabilty for download curtailed desire, there would be no more orphaned card threads. I don't get it (but there are things I value that others don't get), but there is something about the original card that makes people care more about it than one they can download.

| The epic Raistlin card is currently very hard to find. So, it's expensive.
I agree with the people who say they'd never pay that much for it. But, there are quite a few people who will. Hence the price.
Pretty simple really. A thing is expensive if there are buyers willing to compete with one another to set the selling price.

| Raistlin - collectors/fans mainly, plus the Epic has quite a few more fun 'bells and whistles'!
Large Black Dragon - great looks, mid-range skirmish cost, excellent skirmish abilities. I think the competitive skirmish players drive the market. Rarity = steep price. NOTE: I predict the Large Shadow Dragon will make a run on the LBD's skirmish reign. Swift jumps to the LBD's face or to their rear-guard commander will force the LBDs to be less roaming...

| | People like dragons. Even if they don't skirmish, or play the game, some want any dragon they can get their hands on. As I said before with Raistlin, any time you hit the collectors as well as the other two groups, the price on auctions are going to go up. | | Completed trades: blackthorne, Drakkengi,Thorgrin, Ironfist Boulderbender x2, ckissee, nasamonkey, Username, Star, Ace13 x3, emontedodger x2, Drconveyor, church, Joeyb, Sir Bozak The Damned, Xeromod, the other guy x2, Qucalion of Celene, Dagaron x2, berus316, qillan_dvra, AshloreDarkShadow

| The LBkD for $30 is as has been stated reasonable. The current average seems to be in the mid 20's but it is a great skirmish piece that is used in multiple and a popular RPG figure. In RPG it finishes the first complete dragon family tree as we now have black dragons in all available sizes; unless they start as tiny but I think most of us can forgive missing that size.
Paying $40 for a card and a die is just a bit crazy. I almost wonder if someone is spending other peoples money (maybe without their consent) when they do things like that.

I can clearly see people going nuts over Raistlin. I'm not a Dragonlance fan but alot of people are and I would be surprised if alot of packs get sold to non skirmishers just to get him.
