| | Boycott 2.0! might be a bit harsh atm. Although I'm not happy about the switch (partly because I've invested so much in the game), I've adopted a "wait and see" attitude. One thing for sure; if the new game sucks, I stop buying in the now, as will many others from our Vancouver group. My old minis will just become RPG pieces. So, Shoe & Company, 20-30% of your DDM sales in the Vancouver area is riding on this new game of yours. Good luck. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades. | |

I'll see what they have to offer and then decide but already what I've heard sounds kinda dorky. They seem to have "simplified" the game to make it easier to impliment as a computer-moderated game. Think "Vassel" but with software that rejects actions which break the rules (exceeds movement speeds, ranged attack without LoS etc) And may do some of the dice rolls automatically. The inevitable risk with this, is the resulting game may be too simple to be worth playing. We won't be sure if that has happened until May-08. D&D has always had a pretty simple mechanic, that's what has made it the most successful RPG ever. I'm all in favor of a clean, simple basic game that's accessable to new players yet still fun for the old timers. You know suppliments will be released later to add the complexity some players desire.

Hear Hear!! I believe the modular aspect of 4E will make it simple, with complexity added at will. | | Official Delegate, Wizards of the Coast Icons Called Shot: Gargantuan Prismatic Dragon "Rejoice, for bad things are about to happen."

Hmm... Some other games had simpler mechanics. I'd say that the fact it was the first ever helped a lot. | | Vindicated Champion of the PSEUDODRAGON (Unhappy) vindicated champion of the DRYAD Against the giants called shot : huge cloud giant female Demonweb called shot : ghost

| There's such a thing as too simple.

Yeah, in the gaming industy, very rarely does price make as much a difference as quality and name. | | Official Delegate, Wizards of the Coast Icons Called Shot: Gargantuan Prismatic Dragon "Rejoice, for bad things are about to happen."
