Watch the video (GenCon Videos thread). I think it's the second video. They preview a computer generated dungeon and show encounters with the troll, the beholder and the large green dragon.
Since the computer generated troll in this video looks exactly like the one that appeared on the Wizards-site, it seems safe to assume, that we'll see a beholder in Dungeons of Dread.
After my initial fear of a catfish-SHAPED beholder, I felt better after looking at the mini. It has catfish-like whiskers, but still the typical beholder features.

| ok, has there seriously been any confirmation that the troll or the beholder are actually being made into minis? For as far as I can tell, the picture of the supposed "mini" is just a picture of the giant 9' statue from the convention. and a 13' tall beholder doesn't exactly sound "mini" to me...
ok, MAYBE runelord started painting some really super detailed "people standing around at a convention" minis, but otherwise I don't accept a statue as OMG Pr00fzorz!!1! of dungeon of dread. | | | |

| The base on the Troll mini (picture on Hordelings and DDMSpoilers sites) seems to have an extremely thin base for a large miniature.
It almost looks like a huge mini, from the base proportions. Either that, or it's just a mock-up (without a standard base) or the bases are being changed for DDM 2.0.
Perhaps changing the bases in some way is even likely, as a way of more easily distinguishing between 1.0 and 2.0. I don't mind particularly if base thickness changes, but I really hope the base diameters don't change. (The last change in large base size made enough of a mess of my storage system.) | |

| The troll looks cartoony, but not as bad as I thought when I read the first comments. It won't fit with the older minis though.
The beholder is OK, it will be perfect as a variant (did I say that the 2E "I tyrant" supplement is one of my faves ever ?) Difference in size wouldn't even be a problem in this case.

The moustache face plate isn't so hot, but the general scaly look is just fine with me, very aberrent. Same goes for the troll, the larger nose actually makes it (at least to me) look more interesting and trolly. | |

Thanks for your work, greyhaze. DoD seeems an excellent set so far. I just hope some of the good minis will be uncommons (like the Bar-Igura and the Drider) and pray for an uncommon Fire/Frost Giant, too.

Yeah, that's where my confusion was coming from. The same Troll seemed to be listed in both sets.
Greyhaze seems to have cleared that up now.
