| I just finished opening my 3 cases and I have to say, I'm VERY impressed with the quality of the minis, especially the paint jobs. Many of the UC look like rares and even some of commons look uncommonly good.(pun intended)
This was an unexpected surprise for what will probably be my last cases of DDM. I'm not getting out of the hobby. I have a full collection of DDM1.0 and no desire to collect 2.0/4th edition. I'll be switching to purchasing/trading for specific minis from here on out to fill gaps in my current collection.
DDM has come a LONG way since Harbinger. Good work Wizards.

Looks like the preview mini was missing that darkening ink wash. I wasn;t too upset over the archer I pulled.

Really... that sounds quiet sad... maybe V2.0 will be great terminated and designed system that we wait for long time... DDM v 1.0 needs balance... if you like V 1.0 you'r wrong ... the true is bad system, bad costed units (Over and undercosted)...
Maybe the remedy of all this system's problem is new construction.... I put my hopes in DDM 2.0

| I was both impressed and unimpressed when I got my case yesterday. I
was impressed by the look of the commons and uncommons for the most
part. They all looked pretty good for not being rares. Only a few
looked like crap, shadar-kai assassin I'm looking at you.
I was
a little disappointed by the swarms... I thought the scarab swarm
looked pretty good from the pictures but it looks like crap in person
:P Why does it look like they used nice metallic paint in the previews
and crap in person?
Then of course, there's the commons that
looked like crap in the previews but looked alright in person. Militia
Archer would be the perfect example here.
Now the rares....
I
must say I was pretty disappointed with the rares. A lot of them look
horrible. Sphinx, Bruenor, manticore, drider, naga, Yuan-to, blade
spider all look like commons or uncommons. They look really bad. The
set also lacks rares that really stand out... there aren't any like the
Pit Fiend or Frost Giant Jarl.

Yes, for a long-awaited piece, it's a little boring to look at. Don't know how they could have made it look any better though.

I don't know for skirmish, I'm not a skirmisher.
For RPG, many people here have large collections and have concerns about compatibility of 2.0 with older minis (size creep, change in art style, old monsters redone for the nth time, etc.) We'll see in 5 months.

| I was thrilled with almost all my minis (picked up 3 cases like I do every set)
While I confess to not liking the new art direction on a few figs (Ogre and Troll being the two biggest), they are excellent minis. And so many things looked just the same (Umber Hulk, Rage Drake) or close enough (Sphinx, Manticore, Osyluth) that I'm not concerned about 2.0/4th ed. | |

| recieved the bulk of my mins today. didnt order a case just singles. i like the new troll and most other rares. the mercs general moustache was painted over in flesh color so i have to fix that but no other complaints with paints. Couple of questions and observations. Harpy min doenst say male so its possible its just flat chested? is the tiefling cleric male or female. even the card is tough to tell?
I thought the umberhulk would be bigger. It looks the same size as the older one. Arent these guys supposed to be bigger? The troll and Bar-luga tower over it | |
