| Hey Gang: I love good discussions on our boards and lately with all the trades and such new posts in the general trading forum have been a little slow in regards to discussions such as this.
So with the thought of trading in mind I was curious as to what technique most of you go by when starting a trade proposal? I think the interface is fantastic, however, in saying that I often have a trade idea in mind, but am not yet absolute in all the workings. I don't want to immediately put it up on the interface because I want to flesh out possible details and not have the person accept the possible proposed trade in the works before it is done.Â
I like to discuss things via email prior to sending an absolute commitment via the interface where the other person can accept before all the details are fleshed out. Very often I will propose a possible deal with certain other parameters which may have to be discussed first. I get worried that if I post it to the interface immediately the other proposed trader may accept without us getting a chance to discuss all the parameters laid out yet. Yes, it is easy to add additional minis to the trade while on the interface though posting comments, but if a trade proposal is made with a tentative understanding and the other person accepts it is then set on the boards looking as though the trade was absolute when it may have only been an inquiry. I like to haggle a bit, talk via email and see where things are going and then when set put it to the interface. I have about 90 trades listed on the site with well over 100 completed all with no problems other than me getting scammed more than my fair share (about 4 or so times).
I always try and send an email first and see if we are even close to working out a trade and then expanding if possible or even altering it altogether.
So with my thoughts posted what do all of you like to do? Lets talk! | | Give me more MIND FLAYERS! | |

| | Exactly what you just said. I prefer to do things by email first. Hammer out all the details. The trade interface is like the signing of the contract. That said, I'm pretty easy to deal with. If my trade partner initiates things through the interface, I just follow his/her lead. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades. | |

| You sound like a great trade partner.Â
I like everything that you said. Myself, I usually send and receive via the Trade Interface, unless it is an unusual request. I then always follow up with an email if there are details to be worked out or the Trade Interface to directly Accept or Decline.Â

| | I like a email first and like to see that they have checked my trade thread so they have a idea of what I want and need. Not trying to jam junk at me that I have no desire for. | | I usually send a proposal through the interface. I send a refined offer so it's not a problem if it's immediately accepted. | |

| Sometimes I don't receive emails from people that send via the trade interface. Or maybe they are sending an email via the email link here. Either way I prefer if people just copied & pasted my email and sent me a request that way just to be safe.
I always do that myself.

| | I tend to go with the interface. I've had a couple problems in the past and it provides a clear cut record that LCS and folks can check in case of a dispute. A copy/pasted email can easily be altered. Call me paranoid if you will, :P but once you wait on minis for 6 months or get scammed you get a bit more cautious I suppose. | | Eye dun no why youse guys think im not relly a person im jimgang from canada but im moving to cali as soon as i get a master card -Jimgang So, you stand at your grave, Has your soul yet been taken away? | I do some of each. Whatever suits my mood. Or, if I'm not at home, I use the interface, and catch up on email once I get home.

| | I use the interface first 90% of the time. The counter offer option is easy to use to work out most deals. I'll e-mail first when it's an unusual trade or if there are special circumstances. Most of my offers aren't generated by threads. I will do a trade search first and that's how I get the vast majority of my trades. The most common reason my offers get refused is because the other person hasn't kept their h/w list up to date so the search returned obsolete information. | | | |

| The interface at first, sort details out by email, and then sign off by interface to formalise it.
