It's fummy to vote every week, i like it. But I feel WOTC is manipulating us with too close pools, I mean, maybe they put the minis they want to we pick in groups.

A great big *yawn* from me.

How about they spend the time on giving us some previews of the next set or of 4E, rather than on useless and meaningless polls?

The silence is almost deafening around there and around here for that matter.

There is nothing to discuss and nothing to be excited about.

It´s all about All Star Polls in these days, nothing NEW, Nothing Interesting to read or to comment except vote for what ever miniatures category WotC invent.

Why not, they put all in one Poll and the people choose from that big universe of miniatures. And not something like this: Divine Bard poll (and they put 3 slot when in all the set there are only 1 or 2 miniatures good enough to be in the final 60)

Againts the Giants Called Shot: Cattie Bri.
Dungeon of Dread Called Shot: Cockatrice.

I like to voice my opinion (as many of you know), but I stopped voting a long time ago. I just don't have any interest in it anymore. This is going to be the longest dry spell we've had until April, and I wish there were new and exciting things to discuss rather than the waiting.

I do like voting for things,   but I really dont like the way these pulls are manipulating the all stars.  I am getting sick of seeing votes for virtually the same things as last week except different figs.  Getting old super fast.  And making people pick 1 choice between 2-3 things that should be in the all stars anyway is lame.  I am really getting frustrated with it.

Well, they haven't been fun for me after they got past the initial set voting, since it now requires a new login thing for Gleemax, and nobody was willing to help me figure out how to make it work after I couldn't get through the steps to set up a new login/username thing.

Vote or die- P.Diddy

Yeah I'm getting a little tired as well but mostly from the limited choices, there are usually 2 or 3 more in a given poll I would want to see in the allstars. I think its a little unfair to use a 'magicians force' to make us pick the allstars.

Magiciians force: when you appear to have a choice between mulitiple items but really don't, the magician manipulates the choices 'forcing' you to pick the item he wanted all along.

I'm getting tied of picking a VERY limited number from a very large pool. Picking 1 or 17 is a pain and 2 of 19 isn't much better. I've said it before but I'd like to see them at least order our top three so if our first picks don't win at least we can then help our second or third choices. With this pick one everybody may have a different favorite but still have a general consensus on what their second choice would be but who ever gets that "extra" vote for number one wins even if 90% of the rest would have that as their third choice or worse.

I think if there were a schedule for voting for the all stars set out from the beginning it would have made a difference.  As it is, it seems like a directionless hodge-podge of pointless voting exercises (pointless not referring to fun that people have just voting for the fun of it).

I've been done for a long time now. As soon it was anounced that all the minis would be updated, it just didn't matter to me... I don't care which minis are "All-Stars". Don't get me wrong, I'm glad all the minis will be updated, that is great... but going through the motions to see which ones will be done first and calling them All-Stars is a bit Bleh to me.

We need some previews! Some news! Something to talk about! I'm at the point where I would like to see another thread asking which minis we would like to see made/re-made/re-sculpted... like, how about a pair of uncommon Worg Riders in the same set (one with bow and one with scimitar)? Or how about some incite to some of the monster concept changes (the ogre, troll, beholder, manticore look different, but what else?). Some of this may be out there, I was out of the loop for a while...

I'm enjoying it but they need to do some cheaper figs as well I want to see a pair more of 3 vote slots:

Vote 3 listing ALL the commons from all sets
Vote 3 Listing ALL the uncommons from the sets.

That wasy all stars gets 3 more commons and uncommons among their ranks.

And I thought voting was about expressiong your opinion, regardless of what it is based on.
Maybe the aforementioned 'idiot' has a good warband based around those creatures that he has invested money into and enjoys playing. And maybe he wants to make sure that he would still be able to do so in 2.0.

Hi Everyone,

It is not as interesting as it was in the beginning. At first there was alot riding on it. When WOTC announced that all the minis will get new stats, that took some of the tension and excitement out of it. However, I still like the process and look forward to the 60 All Stars. It is a good list overall.

Later,

Uhm, maybe those are bad examples, cause those are all pretty decent sculpts...

I'm not a  big fan of maraut and there's no way you'll convince me doogie is a good sculpt compared to the figures he was up against.

Snurre was crappy because of his point cost, which won't be changing. Even if they made him legal in 200 pt somehow by adding a special exception for him (and that's a big if), he'd still not be very viable since we'll want 10 activations in the new game.

Doogie was the worst to get in so far. Maybe some of you like the sculpt (I think it's pretty damn boring) but I will bet that 90% of the people that voted for him did so because of his current amazing cost ratio. He doesn't bring anything fun or exciting to the game, all he brings is really good stats which will be changed and there's no telling how good those stats will be.

If you want more examples, storm silverhand is a prime example. Some may like her sculpt but I will bet 75% of the people that voted for her did so because of her commander effect. Guess what? 2.0 won't have commanders. On top of that, there is no more morale. That's a double whammy. I'm sure some people voted for her because they like her character and want to see her in the new game, I'm fine with that, it's perfectly logical :)

Don't mind me, I'm just upset about boring figures getting votes based on current stats instead of interesting ones.

Don't forget that the all stars are the most likely ones to get professional printed too.

Desert of desolation packs will be given to XP attendees, and I can it being far more likelihood that if a similar promotion is done, it will only be all stars that get it, and the rest of the restats will dribble out like the current retroepics.

I also think RPGers are having a bigger influence than skirmishers with Storm, Snurre and other choices (famous characters in D&D lore).
I like this. Anything that gets voted by RPGers as interesting/attractive on table means more are likely to see them on the the battlemap and more interest in trying skirmish as well.

Guy from Hordelings.
And even weirder, there's been exactly one mini in a stage two vote that was not voted into the top 20 for its set.
.
The mini is Clay Golem from Archfiends. I don't have time to look it up, but if it's true... mmm, there's definitely something fishy going on here...

I'd like to support rrrrupp's controversial position. I voted for figures that I like the look of. I completely ignored current skirmish strength, but it seems like a lot of the "not so great looking figures with good skirmish stats" are getting voted in. Let's just say that if some of those figures had poor skirmish stats to begin with, they probably would not have been given a second thought in all-star voting.

I'd like to support rrrrupp's controversial position.

Which controversial position, the one where anyone that didn't vote like he did is an idiot?

Or that King Snurre would be a bad choice, because even if you liked his sculpt, no retool, so the piece will still be bad for skirmish?

Or that the Duergar Champion is a bad choice, because even though it's great for the cost (what skirmisher would vote for that), the sculpt is poot? Note: I think the scuplt is fine, but the paint job is a little monotinous.

Or that 75% of the people voting for Storm were just wrong for doing so, but the 25% that voted for her because they are a fan are OK.

So, I guess if you're going to vote, you should only vote for pieces that have good skirmish stats and good sculpts (please see rrrrupp for definitions of each).

It's a good thing this idiot didn't vote, because I would have voted for the Duergar Champion. . . he's one of my son's favorites, but he doesn't know better, he's only 11.

I, for one, think that the Marut has an amazing sculpt and will be a nice edition to 2.0.

Also most of my votes are based on nostalgia. I am voting for pieces that I have fond memories of, or always liked, even if they never ended up being competitive. I may have even voted for the Duergar Champion (I don't remember), but even if I did not I have no problem with him getting in. Why shouldn't people want to see competitive pieces of yore that they've played with countless times restatted faster than random pretty mini #13?

I am not gone.

Wow, you need to calm down buddy.

My point is that many people are voting based off of completely illogical points. CURRENT STATS SHOULD HAVE NO BEARING ON YOUR VOTING.

Things we know will be there in 2.0:
- Cost of creature
- Sclupt/paintjob of creature
- Basic playstyle of creature
- Fondness of creature (wanting to see your favorite creatures for the d&d world... drizzt, storm, etc.)

Things that should never be reasons for voting:
- Stat to cost ratio. Who cares if the orc warrior or doogie champ are great units now. The stats will change.
- Wanting to see the creature in D&D 4.0 (they are only giving it skirmish stats)

I'm sure there's more from both lists, that's all I could think up for now. People are entitled to their opinions as long as they aren't ill-founded.

If you're voting for units based on their stats... please rethink it, if you simply have a different opinion about sculpt or just like the creature in general (I love the orcs personally), then hats off to you... this post isn't directed towards you :P

I'm not tired of voting, but I am way beyond tired of the way they're grouping the minis to get certain pieces voted in. It is much more the appearance of choice than actual choice. If these were still the only minis getting redone, the vote groupings likely would've been enough to push me off the fence.

I think the all stars are the only minis getting redone that have a snowball's chance in hell of being anywhere close to competitive. I don't think every mini redone should be tier 1, but I think the rest will be about as competitive as the Phoelarch, if not less so.

Ok, so it's your opinion that current stats should have no bearing on our voting. I completely disagree with you.

This is an all star vote. Sure, the minis won't have the same stats. To me, the idea of an all star vote means that I am voting for what has been a star so that it will have a chance to continue to be a star. The point of the voting is to keep a group of 60 top skirmish pieces to carry over from the old rules to the new rules. While sculpt and what the mini is has some factor in my voting (if I were still voting), a big part of my voting is, which ones were top pieces under the old rules?

When the new rules come, much of the older game will be lost. This vote to me is about making a statement about what we want to have carry over.

Now, you have a different opinion. Ok, fine. But that doesn't make people who vote for reasons having different priorities than you idiots. Be more careful about slinging insults.

I agree with rrrrupp; some people are voting on the basis of miss-information about WotC intentions.
e.g. Several people posting on the forums have said they belive that WotC will produced an actual set of 60 figures. (like the MtG core set)
And there are two problems with voting on that belief;
1) WotC have never said they will do so.
2) They probably can't even if they thought it would sell well. The moulds for these expansions arn't for individual figures they are for sprues. so to make two rares from each set. WotC would have to produce every rare they have made in every set. They could presumably throw away 90% of the figures without having them painted. But just painting the remaining 60 would be expensive, because they would need the combined paint pallot of the 11 sets.

Don't worry about the current metagame. It doesn't matter if it's ugly, bad, or the best ever. In 2 years time, set rotation will ban everything.
