For me the 2 most disappointing miniatures came from the same set---AF--Phoelarch and Sword Archon

I'm afraid Valorous Prince... that's my worst, from a skirmish perspective.

One of these days WoTC will update their tournament page when I'm in the top 5... they never seem to do when I'm in that bracket :(

Yeah, good point, he sucks. And no RPG trade value really. makes a decent mage or cleric.

He makes a decent nobleman or bard too, glad he's a rare and not an uncommon.

Oh come on, Rikka's actually pretty nice. Maybe not great for RPG, but very usable in skirmish, especially in epic games.

Yeah, that's fair enough. My disappointment comes from the horrible appearance, rubbish paintjob, the 30 odd degree lean AND the history of the piece's creation. I think if we look up disappointment in the dictionary we'd probably see a photo of the face of a DDM player who has just pulled Rikka from a booster.

War Chanter was also pretty demoralising. Especially if it came packing a T-Rex :(

Given Rikka has evaded polling my vote goes to War Chanter.

Yes, the low save on regular Rikka makes her pretty weak in that respect. But, her epic stats are certainly above average.

My philosophy on rares is different than most peoples. I only RPG so my opinions are biased based on that. I don't think it's fair to compare rares released before the addition of large uncommons vs. those released afterwards. Rares should be pieces I want 1 or 2 of at most. Your list is comprised of primarily very good to excellent rares. Worst rare ever? Off the top of my head it would be the fire giant forgepriest. As our third fire giant it should never have been a rare. Uncommon would have been perfect.

As an aside, I haven't liked the rarities of the last several sets. I've essentially stopped collecting because of the poor choices the design team has been making lately.

You know, I keep thinking that after the new design team gets done with D&D 4e, D&D won't stand for Dungeons and Dragons anymore, because well, that's just not fun. It's old and stuffy. - Originally Posted by BabWryter on Kenzerco.com

Breaking it down by set is kind of hard since there are a few from the older sets I've not seen in-hand yet. The sculpts from the gallery sometimes look much different so my current 'worst' picks are only from my collection so far. Oh yeah, I mainly only RPG - though I will play the occasional fun game of DDM.

My top worst minis list:

Harbinger: no true hates here - except the poor paint jobs often ruin many of the minis. I guess I'd have to go with the Hellhound...more as a let-down on what I'd expected a hellhound to look like.

Dragoneye: Gnome Fighter- bad sculpt, bad paint and HUGE ugly sword pommel...

Archfiends: Gnoll Archer - Gnolls on stilts... (and normally I like Gnoll minis)

Giants of Legend: Regdar, Adventurer - suffering from the Flame Snake 'filled in gaps' syndrome...and not even painted very well to mask the problem.

Abberations: Celestial Black Bear - a more tame looking bear I have yet to see.

Deathknell: Celestial Dire Badger - see Celestial Black Bear...even the Ambush Drake and Giant Frog look more menacing than this cute little guy!

Angelfire: Dwarf Raider - the oddest looking dwarf I've seen in a while. A male(???) dwarf with no beard whatsoever and using only a crossbow as a weapon?

Underdark: Dromite Wilder - wouldn't have been half as bad if it had NOT been rare...

War Drums: Lion of Talisid - horrid looking sculpt and paint...a close tie with the Frost Dwarf.

Dragon Queen: Witchknife - nothing I'm likely to use anytime soon. Ugly and obscure...

Blood Wars: Hammerer - I just don't care much for the mini.

Unhallowed: Celestial Giant Owl - I would like this mini a lot better if it were not for the black post that looks like it was shoved up it's arse (clear plastic would have at least made it passable).

Night Below: Hierophant of the Seventh Wind - mostly due to the fact that I've pulled 4 of them out of all the NB packs I've bought over time, and the paint job is one of the worst I've seen...

Desert of Desolation: Angel of Vengeance - I could even have grown to like the 'new look' a lot better if it weren't for that silly fake looking sword and fugly wings.

Demonweb Called Shot: Myconid
Feywild Called Shot: Wolf
Champion of the Zombie Black Dragon

- N333

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

- Conan the Barbarian, on what is best in life

i don't think that there was any one rare that i'd call the worst (besides the dromite :) of course) but there are 5 that i'd call pretty close.

beside dromite...
wizended elder
phoelarch
ambush drake
goliath cleric
thir-kreen ranger - I got so many of these back in harbinger days...

If I would have never drawn any of these figs, I'd not have collected them, but in each case I drew multiples and was able to trade them away.

Going only with Boosters that were available when I started playing, I'd go with this list (assuming I was also a roleplayer in addition to skirmisher):

DK: Ambush Drake, FM Scorpion

AF: Phoelarch, Thri-Kreen Barbarian, Steel Predator

UD: Dromite Wilder, Dwarf Ancestor, Marut

WD: Gulgar, Warbound Impaler, Warforged Barbarian

DQ: Dragonborn Fighter, Spellscale Sorcerer, War Weaver, Slaughterstone Eviscerator

BW: Kolyarut, Lord of Blades, Air Genasi Swashbuckler

UH: Blood Golem of Hextor, Lg Astral Construct, Shield Golem, Tsucora Quori

NB: Clawborn Scorrow, Aspect of Loviatar

DoD: Fire Archon, Macetail Behemoth, Bar Lgura

For the poll, I went with the War Weaver.
