| I wonder when will we get the first pic of a mini from Dungeon of Dread. So far, if I recall correctly, there's an initial picture before the first preview (for example the Balor from Underdark was revealed a month or so before the first preview). So, c'mon, Wizards folks, just throw in one to us all as Xmas gift.

time to time, Wizards of the Coast bestows special gifts on its
employees. Sometimes these are things that make you scratch your head
and wonder, "why?" (e.g., sunglasses that would be rejected as "too
dorky" by an explorer going snowblind in Antarctica). Sometimes they're
pretty cool (e.g., autographed copies of bestselling FR and DL novels).
And sometimes they're so mind-blowingly schweet that they make you
happy for weeks. As Exhibit A in category 3, I present Snowball, the Holiday Edition Beholder.
These were handed out yesterday. It's a limited-edition,
semi-translucent, ice-crusted beholder on an inscribed base, packaged
in a crystal-clear display box. And yes, it is mind-blowingly cool. My
mind is blown. Ten years from now, I will have paralyzing Snowball flashbacks. I don't know how many were made, but I
do know that a) you must be a WotC employee to get one, and b) WotC
employees are not allowed to resell these types of giveaways. I have no
doubt that it would fetch a handsome price on eBay. Not that I would ever sell mine, because it's so cool. Steve

I imagine because it would be to expensive to produce at the current booster price. I imagine that quite a few people would buy it if they sold it as an idividual mini though.

| I'm pretty sure that the DDr Beholder will be the exact same sculpt, just with non-clear plastic and classic painted...but they already got the mold.

| Wow! Nice look. I'm sure looking forward to the new beholder and hope it'll be more affordable than the last one...
Regarding that particular mini, it's certainly super-cool looking. But seriously, why would I want one? I'd prefer a "fleshy" beholder for RPG purpose and feel happy for the WOTC employees. Nice gesture! | |

It was more the fact that if I'd never seen one to begin with I wouldn't know I wanted one and I wouldn't be wishing I could get one 
It's cool though for the employees of WoTC. I'm sure that they appreciate it.
Still - It will be interesting to see what they will go for when someone finally does put one up for bidding on eBay. Perhaps someday I'll track one down  | |
