| | Im going out on a limb right now and say im sticking with 4th edition regardless of any changes WOTC makes too the game. 3.5 will go the way of the dinosaur and theres nothing we can do about it. | For the record, I will be playing Castles & Crusades for the forseeable future. Nothing Wizards has previewed so far indicates that 4E will support an old-school style of play so, this grognard won't be buying it.

| I'll be using 3.5 for roleplaying for the forseeible future. DDM 2.0 vs 1.0, I want to see the new rules and play around w/ the game mechanics before deciding whether I'm in or out. Will most likely only buy 1 case instead of 3. | | They just don't know what's good in life...Conan, tell them what is good in life. To rip the boosters. | No fence sitting here. I will continue to pay 3.5 and have no desire to play this new game comming out next year. It doesnt resemble D&D as I know and love it at all. I own so many moduals and Dungeon magazines that new material isnt needed for me to keep playing well into the future. As far as minis go...as long as they still make monsters from 3rd edition books Im good. I will give DOD and the huge set a go and if they change the way monsters look to drastically and keep making weird 4th edition exclusive creatures Im out. | | Champion of the Skulk Vindicated Champion of the Twig Blight | |

| Dude 3.5 ain't goin anywhere. Each version of D&D seems to pick-up it's groupies and keeps them. With the exception of 3rd ed. Nobody liked 3rd ed. 4th ed., after seeing the pics of the Large Green Dragon and Yuan-Ti that looks, to say the least, ridiculous - I'm not sure if i'll be able to get into it, at all... which means I won't even carry it for my customers.

| I have just received a LOT of 3.5 books for Christmas, have only started DMing this year (thus just now really getting into the rules), and have players perfectly content to continue playing with this ruleset, so as long as I am able to to get occasional new (used) material, I see no reason to change. If I lost my group and was forced to join a 4E group in order to continue playing, then I would only as a player - as a DM I would run 3.5 (or not DM at all).
As for minis, I will continue to collect those that are similar to 3.5 art, and are of the correct scale. | | Completed Trades: Cha0tic g0od x2,IHawk x6,demagogue x5,jcnorris00,Sammael x3,Diomedes x3,Pan,Phoenix,samstephenson500,sage_raistlin,jai,simage,Lab Monkey x4,bugsy,Vulturedoodle,T-Bone,niolo,GreyOne,Kunimatyu,Mullins,ShivanWurm,berus316,Thenameless x3,Tysac,ksuvampire,Mama Cass,Metz,Zim x2,brucemc,Krush x2,Venport,RedneckDM,nycfarmkid,Corim Danex,Chad the DragonLordofAiur x2,Puggins,Izeya82 x2,Oryan77 x3,Zenako,Wayne,Vocenoctum1,Drakkengi,Username x2,lyus_sleyden,Cyberia,Star x2,xuthal x3,Qucalion of Celene x8,sam500 x2,Blob39,Keoki x2,hazel monday x3,emontedodger,Dargoth,Wraithborne,Anothermullen,Vrecknidj x4,Ghendar,Gunthar,shoesan,beurice,ckissee,kyrin,Khellrendros,GuJiaXian,Wolfgang,True_Blue,md3,stephengroy(MMT08),Teflon Jeff,GuJiaXian(MMT08),aries71,Count Dooku,Kat_Dawg33,oldben,TheChuck,hung4treasonI I I I I I I I I I 0 I I I I I I I I I I Pending: relientKitten

| I've got a huge stack of 3.5 books, myself, but for the most part I'm liking the changes 4e is bringing. It seems to me like it will facilitate quicker play, which is always a plus. Besides, the rules don't dictate the story being developed at the table, so if the system is more fun, then there will be no reason for me to switch back except for a session or two for nostalgia's sake.
As for DDM 2.0, I'll be making the switch. I enjoy collecting minis as much as I do playing with them, and I use them in RPG. As long as the new ruleset is fun, I'll stand by it, because that's all I'm going to be able to play with the newer minis. | | Completed trades: Brenigin, desiderata, HockeyFan, MikeyChraal, Raland, GuJiaXian

| For RPG, I'm sticking with 3.5. I won't go into the reasons again, but if you really must know, read my swan song post in the 4e forum.
As for skirmish, I plan on reading the rules when they're available for download and deciding if I want to play skirmish anymore. One thing I won't be doing is buying any minis based on skirmish stats. If I decide to play 2.0, I'll do it with whatever I keep for RPG. I will still use the 1.0 skirmish rules as well. I've found they work well enough for large scale battles on occasion. | | The year: 1994. | | I'm sticking with 3.5 for a while. The way I see it, there was a perceived "need" for revision when 3.0 was introduced. 2.0 had run its course and the material had been exhausted. 3.5 simply fixed most of what was wrong with 3.0, and it's close enough to the same that most 3.0 material is easily adaptable. With a few exceptions (polymorph, grapple) 3.5 works well. Most of us have only scratched the surface of the system. There's easily 10 years worth of good gaming left in 3.5. If they rewrote a few key spells and rules the system would be near perfect, IMO.

| Unless 4.0 ends up very different than it appears so far, I will be sticking with 3.5 If I want to play WoW, I'll just play WoW. When I want to play D and D, I want to actually play D and D. Sorry if it seems negative on my part, but 4.0, from what I know so far, just doesn't seem like its gonna feel like D and D. Maybe its just me being old (1st edition Monster Manual is the bible!), but I like what I like. I am not up for tieflings and eladrin as races, powers that heal friends while hurting allies at the same time, monsters that look like a video game, and feat trees (or whatever they are). I actually just ordered a few 3.5 books that I didn't have on the cheap. I can play 3.5 online with my geo-seperated friends using Fantasy Grounds, so even that aspect is no longer of interest to me (especially since Fantasy Grounds is a one time program buy with no month to month siphoning of money).
As far as minis, I am starting to lose steam there as well. I have at least two of every set, but I may seriously curb my spending there too. Although the large bases are great from a skirmish perspective, they really suck with my Dwarven Forge stuff for RPG. Since I anticipate many more monsters looking "weird" from what I am used to, and size creep to continue, it just may not be worthwhile for me to buy 4 cases of each set. I might just get a single set off of ebay to satisfy DDM needs for the future releases. Most of the RPG stuff I want has already been made, so I may just try and get more of that (especially the smaller based large minis!).

I will, however, buy the books and learn 4e because I am an RPGA judge and can't afford to fall behind.
And, when my current campaign comes to a close and I start a new one (probably 2 or 3 years away), I'll start it in 4e.

Also, I'm kinda leery about the whole 3.0-3.5 thing still so I'll likely hold off a bit in cast WoTC pulls that little trick again. Eventually I'll pick up 4.0 and I'll hold on to my 3.5 stuff like I did with my other older edition books as well.

and since I deal with the minis for RPG purposes, as long as the useable sculpts keep coming, I will be buying, 1.0 or 2.0, does not matter....

| Hi Everyone,
Well there is an issue! 4.0 has this new feature that 3.5 and all earlier versions did not have. ONLINE PLAY!!!
If the online system works, I will be jumping to 4.0 very quickly. If the interface or game play stinks, then I will stay with 3.5. You see my group of players are struggling to find time to play. An Online system will help reduce some of the logistical problems we face as families, children, life, the universe and everything gets in the way. So for me it is the online play that will ultimately determine the direction I take.
I am actually looking forward to designing and GMing an online system. (I really hope it works!)
Thanks,
