| This is my first post to these forums.
I've been trying to hunt down what exactly the little round stickers on Desert of Desolation boosters mean. "4th edition preview minis" seems to insinuate randomly inserted sneak peeks, but I can't find anything to verify it. I would gladly appreciate the help, as curiosity hurts my wallet and I really dont need that many of each DoD mini....well...except for the usual suspects. Thanks for any help.

| Welcome to maxminis.
The designers have stated that all but one of the miniatures in Desert of Desolation would be in the 4th edition Monster Manual I. It is assumed they weren't talking about the humanoids (dwarves, elves, etc.), which are probably the same for both, but just the monsters. Many of the monsters aren't highly different from 3.5 versions, but several are different. There is not an official list of differences provided. When the Monster Manual for 4e comes out, it will be easier to compare.
For some examples of definite changes for 4e, look at the Black Woods Dryad (dryads in 3.5 look like girls, but the new one looks like a tree creature), the shrieking harpy, the visejaw crocodile (no large crocodiles in 3.5), the Bar Lgura (which is a medium creature in 3.5), the angel of vengeance (new look for angels in 4e), the cyclops, the troll, the fire archon (new creature), the ettercap webspinner, the flame snake (I believe this is a new creature), the manticore sniper (compare picture in Monster Manual for 3.5), the osyluth (compare with previous bone devil), the ogre brute, the naga (there aren't any nagas without something else in their name like bright or dark or bone in 3.5), the sahuagin (new look for 4e--compare with previous sahuagin), the sahuagin baron (four-armed sahuagin were medium creatures in 3.5), the two tieflings, the yuan-ti champion of zehir (compare with yuan-ti abomination).
I don't know how complete my list is, without seeing a 4e monster manual. Since I won't be getting that book (or any 4e books), I will have to look at someone else's after it comes out to do further comparisons. | | "Look to God and live." | | The Flame Snake was in the Fiend Folio. Additionally, in the Desert of Desolation Preview 7, it was stated that 4e Dryads could still appear nymph-like. | | Completed trades: Brenigin, desiderata, HockeyFan, MikeyChraal, Raland, GuJiaXian | |

| | Many thanks, and I'll be sure to explain that to the group of munchkins I run D&D for. Now onward to breakfast....and happy holidays...which equals breakfast. | | "The process of delving into the black abyss is to me the keenest fascination." ~ HP Lovecraft | |
