| The new lamia is a C.I.F.A.L. Look it up in 1st edition Fiend Folio. There is nothing new under the sun.
Didn't they have an article on the wotc website a while ago making fun of old creatures, including the C.I.F.A.L.? Irony

I guess it was paizo I was thinking of, not wizards. It appears they make fun of the cifal in the monster ecologies compilation, that must be where I saw it. Then, they also made fun of the Acherai, and we had that in mini form quite a while ago. I wonder if Acherai in 4.0, since there is no Acheron, or is there? Just a deity domain maybe? No Weejas in 4.0 i think. I believe Gruumsh lives there, oddly enough, despite it being the wrong aligmment, he is just that tough, and he is in 4.0. Malubuyet lives there too.

| | We have to see the mini in our hands to be completely sure about the lamia sculpt. Some people say it is a lion-woman (because its lion face and ears), some people say it is a vermin queen.I think it could be a mix of both but that is not the point. For me is one of the coolest minis in this set, very cool wich goes directly to my RPG campaings as a vermin queen. And people say it is very decent is skirmish too.I really like it but it is not the classic lamia. | | LOVE THIS GIRL | |

| Its a vermin queen, I pulled 2 at XP and it looks pretty good. It has a female human appearance with the right arm, torso, legs and back made up of green beetle swarms the chest, head and left arm look human. I see nothing that looks like a lion.

| | Thanks for the pics maijstral. It looks perfect for a vermin queen or such. I guess that is what it will have to represent for RPG purposes for me. However, it looks a little silly, but maybe it is just the pics. | | Give me more MIND FLAYERS! | |

| | It looks good. Should have given it a different name so we could still get a lion-lamia. But still it looks like a fun encounter. | | Robert Rosehart Champion of the pixie

| | I don't mind subtle changes to monsters, but are complete concept changes really necessary? Why not just make a new monster? In any case, the new concept doesn't look bad. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades. | |

| | Thank you for the photos, mate. Now we look clearly that there are no lion face. She is human and her body is composed by scarab swarms. For me, one of the best sculpts in this set and very cool.It is not a lamia,of course. But it is a vermin queen.Yay for it! | | LOVE THIS GIRL | |

| In Greek mythology, Lamia was a sort of a beautiful woman whose children were murdered by the goddess Hera. This drove her mad and made her a child murderer. For her crimes, she was turned into a monster, but I don't think it was until the Middle Ages that she was illustrated as a beast with feline forelegs, a horse's hindlegs, scales, and the breats and head of a woman - the shape which inspired the 2nd and 3rd edition incarnations.
I rather like the concept of an evil undead fey, which seems in key with the witch-like Lamia of Greek myth. | | Champion of the Catoblepas
